Its not strictly speaking 'seizure'. They freeze your accounts until you can prove provenance. Its still your money if its legit. If not, then its world of pain time.
If you imagine your bank account as a swan, there are hundreds of thrashing feet sitting underneath it risk scoring you, algorithmically analysing the transactions and benchmarking you against known badness. If, for example, your account activity contained several high value transactions to and from nations under sanction it would set big alarms going and your account would get frozen.
Hypothetically, of course.

Can't somebody on here do a credit check on him? Not anymore, GDPR kaiboshed that unless his case lands on my desk ☝️ Nick is correct.

To be fair, this is the same man who'll happily go on camera and say 'Up the Ra' for a £20 Cameo, so to hear he might have financial problems wouldn't be so shocking.

My limited understanding in the uk for preventing someone using account/funds or seizing them
Assets freeze by hmt
Protected disclosure under proceeds of crime or terrorism act up to 7 days for police decide whether to authorise or decline a transaction/account closure
Bank closes account and police do a cash seizure on the check
Confiscation order but you have to already be convicted of something
Suspected fraud or due diligence concern within the bank I guess

The press would have picked that up by now though. This is most likely some transaction(s) or another failing to pass the bank's anti money laundering sniff test.

Farage started life trading on the London Metal Exchange. This month PolyMetal is delisting from the London Stock Exchange - they have a big portion of their business in Russia and the sanctions have hit them- and they’re re-listing in Azerbaijan, that well known home of financial rectitude. The countries who allow investing in the Azerbaijan stock market are also not known for their cleanliness.
Now I have no proof, but it wouldn’t be a massive leap to ponder if he knew PolyMetal was still a good bet and wanted to continue an investment in them.

And tried to get James O'Brian fired And privatise Channel 4 after Krishnan Guru-Murthy tore her shit out. I think Twitter is falling over again but this is always worth a watch /mediaViewer?currentTweet=1488240121711403012¤tTweetUser=GraemeDemianyk

Watching Question Time and Helen Whately is being annihilated and looks utterly defeated. It's only been on for 5 minutes. 😁

Fantastic news. UK economy bowls over critics with huge 0.1% growth. Down with the naysayers talking Britain down with talks of a recession.

It's definitely fudged numbers to avoid looking like what it is - no growth at all.

How do they always manage to find this 0.1%? Its basically the margin of error I was going to say, at some point that'll get revised when more data is available but everyone will have moved on by then. Still, hard to claim the economy is growing, stagnation it is.

Yes, but what about the boats? That's the 0.1% growth, free shipping that the UK can resell.
