If Dougs ran for an office the opposition would have an easy slogan - "Say No To Dougs".
(I'd probably vote for Dougs)

The silver lining is that he has scraped the bottom of so many barrels, robust protections will be in place to stop many things happening again. You'd hope that will be the end of blantant political appointments at the bbc.
And I could kind of live with the last few years if the tories get wiped off the map next week and again at the next GE. Like absolutely fucking obliterated.

This is the first time I have ever seen a concerted effort to get people to vote tactically in local elections, though. stopthetories.vote/

Prof Sir John Curtice pointed out something on Newscast last night. The seats in the upcoming local elections were last contested in 2019, four Prime Ministers ago, under Theresa May. The Tories have already lost loads of seats in the places being contested back in 2019, so they haven't actually got many more to lose, they're already 1,300 seats down. There's a write-up of it here. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65387801

Tactical Vote Hard To Call Vote for your preferred progressive party
That tracks, I've been getting letters and visits from the Lib Dems for weeks. There's apparently 2% in it between them the Tories.

It tells me to tactically vote for Labour, which isn't that tricky to do as a) I was going to anyway and b) my ward has had Labour councillors pretty much forever.

Our (mainly my) plan is to spend most of retirement in overseas Airbnbs for long stays. Seven if I have to be in the UK for 6 months of the year that’s not too bad. Summer is ok and Christmas isn’t bad. Living in one really nice place all the time appeals but not quite as much as going to a lot of places. I think that's the way we are heading too. I had always fancied downsizing here and having a few small residences eg one in Scotland, one in Greece or somewhere. But having long stays around is probably a better bet. Of course that's if we have no health issues.....you do take it for granted! A small place in the UK and another in Greece was my plan too but I'm not sure now with Brexit. The AirBnB is ideal, but more costly and I'm not sure I would be able to afford it.

dam it's also why campervans suddenly become quite appealing... My Mrs won't do a campervan but is totally up for a tiny yacht. I keep telling her they are both the same thing except for the water thing, and costing looooaaaads more.

Ha. Sunak pissing off the Welsh, today, by refusing to use the Welsh name for Brecon Beacons.
Now, can I pronounce it? Not really. Do I recognise that a fucking mountain range in Wales using its Welsh name makes sense? Yes.
Honestly, why get so pissy about this? Can I start calling him Ricky Smith because his name sounds a bit too Indian?

Site tells me to vote Lib Dem, which I probably will do, but still pointless. I'm in Gove's constituency and there is more than a 30-point lead. No idea what it would take for Tories not to be voted in here.

It’s always a straight Lab/Con fight here, so I knew what the answer was going to be.
Even the Lib Dem’s don’t bother fielding a candidate here
