What can the government do about high gas prices; subsidies? We don't store it, we buy it from Qatar??? Insane!
It's a fuel of the past, no point investing in it I guess, just get shafted this winter!

It's like my dad always said "The grabbing hands grab all they can, all for themselves, after all, it's a competitive world." Your dad was in Depeche Mode?

At the very least you would hope those that have made billions would be trying to improve the world by that point, not just trying to make even more. To be fair, there are some of them who do seem to try and do that. Bill Gates, etc.. who give away massive amounts of their wealth. Weirdly, it seems to have made them hated by a large number of people. I don't understand the world sometimes.

I think it is because they are openly trying to use their wealth to achieve something (which some people may not agree with, e.g. climate change or vaccinations, or helping poor people (envy)), as opposed to the other rich people who like to remain in background and have an influence by buying off (sorry donating to) politicians and setting up political action committees.

I think Bill Gates is getting the particular ire simply becuase he was the wealthiest man on earth for a very long time so there has been plenty of time for various groups of people to develop a dislike about him in a way that we haven't really had the chance yet with Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Atleast there's quite a bit there that isn't just "He's Jewish" what with Soros having been the bogeyman for quite a while now.
More in general, I think it's kinda absurd that people can amass wealth to the point that they can create their own space programs. Enough power consolidated in a single person so that he can do things that rival the efforts of an entire nation - whilst we still live in a world where a billion people go hungry every day. And in the case of Jeff Bezos, whilst still leading a company where his own employees go hungry every day! That shouldn't happen in a fair society, and ultimately it doesn't really matter what the personal hobbies of those who benefit the most of this being a fundementally unjust society are. Especially not when they are themselves the architects of it, Jeff Bezos.

What did Mandelson say, they can get filthy rich as long as they pay their taxes! I'd add to that....and pay their workers really, really well!
I hope I'd have a nervous breakdown if my retail empire was based on not allowing my workers piss breaks and pushing them to the very limit for minimum wage (or just above it).
I mean, I know Gates/Musk expect(ed) a lot from their employees but at least they are/were mostly well paid white collar professionals.

He's so far removed from it, that I doubt it's something he is ever confronted with or needs to consider. Just issue an occasional edict based on worker GPS data as filtered through 19 layers of management and corporate goons, and then back to the VR pornworld getting wanked off with squidink and ambergris

I think it takes a certain personality to become even a multi millionaire, let alone billionaire. When you get past a certain amount of money most seem to go even further down that route.
Gates is trying to do some good, at the same time he’s still adding to his wealth and doing things that aren’t in the interest of the population. Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos and many others just seem broken as humans. They all have more power and influence than anyone should ever have.

Despite being able to give their wives everything they could ever want, Gates is divorced, Bezos is divorced, Musk's girlfriend just left him. Zuckerberg flat out looks like an android that can't find a decent hairdresser for any amount of money. Bezos paid a load of people hundreds of millions to make a rocket for him and still doesn't realise it looks like a dick because they hate him and want him to look stupid. Yeah, they're broken.

I'm sure that for some of the mega-wealthy the money is just a side-effect of being psychopathically focussed on your business or tech or whatever.

BBC News - Pensions: Experts say £10,900 a year needed to retire www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58883053That sounded wrong to me, but then the experts b didn't include housing costs as they assume pensions will have paid off they're mortgage by then. Given that I'm living under the assumption I'll be renting until I die, I'm basically fucked.

No where near able to afford a place of my own and even if I did, doubt the mortgage will be paid off before I clock it. Seriously considering buying some land in rural Portugal for a couple of grand and seeing what I can put up there in the future.

The worst thing about that is that he said it to the audience.
As if he thought it'd get a laugh. Revealing.

Tbf I can see how he got them mixed up. I do find it difficult to discern the difference between one old, white, grey haired Tory cunt to another.
