Yeah, huge difference between someone delivering parcels for Amazon with a van or car using your standard driving license to delivering fuel in a hgv tanker. What the fuck?

I really wouldn't want HGV drivers who deliver food or *explosive fuel* with all the care of a Hermes driver.

Is there a problem with petrol? I've been too outraged with the Government being called "scum".
I find it a bit strange that with all the airtime they've had complaining and demonstrating their outrage and how offended they are being called scum, none of them have complained about being called homophobic, racist, mysoginistic or corrupt? Unless they are OK with that!
"We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, mysoginistic, absolute pile ā¦of banana republicā¦Etonianā¦piece of scumā¦and I held back a littleā¦that I have ever seen in my lifeā.

Calling them scum does both give the Tories an excuse to use it as a distraction, and allow them to do the same in return, but at this stage what difference does it make. Tory party conference this weekend, Johnson will continue to plot the next election and largely ignore and/or make a joke of all the inconvenient things that might be occurring, because he can, so why not call them scum at this stage, doesn't matter either way. Also, they are scum.

I hadn't seen the full quote until last night and had that exact thought. The fixation of scum is bizarre, when surely the other terms she uses were much worse.
Just reinforces my view that there is an attempt to make her look common, as well as to smear her as much as they can now to destroy her chances of leadership (or start the attacks before that happens).
As for whether she should actually be leader, my preference would be for Starmer to get his act together and actually do something. The only decisive decesions he seems to be making just serve to reinforce the idea that Labour care more about internal battles than external, even if I may agree in part with some of those choices.
Having said that, if Rayner is going to make a move then I hope she does it sooner rather than later. We can't wait until Labour have another bad election and put up with 5 more years of this lot, before Labour gets its act together. Magical grandpa in socialist wonderland didn't work, clinical and forensic isn't sticking, so maybe someone who is willing to go on the offensive a bit more might be what we need.

I mean it's not a phrase she should have used, but I don't think it will harm her image or make anyone hate Labour who doesn't already hate them to be honest. Don't mind the Tories and the Tory press fixating on this one, tbh.

Heard there was fuel in stock local to me so I've just taken all my lockdown loo rolls to the esso and soaked them in petrol so I can wring them out later!

Calling Starmer clinical and forensic is pretty generous. He's just incredibly beige.
About the only thing he has going for him is that he's not Corbyn.
The in-fighting is pretty ridiculous though. I wish Momentum and the other further-left lot would split off.

I wish Momentum and the other further-left lot would split off. They aren't going to split off because who are they going to blame when they don't get anywhere. For them they'll constantly snipe and cause infighting all the while blaming other people with no self awareness that people rejected Corbyn. Arseholes, the lot of them.

Iāve been on a lap of the local area to see if thereās any petrol available. One station closed, no fuel. Two open and totally rammed with cars, with long queues blocking the road or reducing the dual carriageway to a single lane.

The problem is, Starmer seems to be a fundamentally decent but dull man, which means that he belongs in the Lib Dems where the general population can ignore him. If he'd managed to cultivate some kind of political persona, then people might have started paying more attention.

I canāt be arsed with anymore Labour infighting. Theyāve been more interested in themselves than the country for about seven years now.
Although I maintain that sooner or later Momentum or a rebrand of it will stand candidates for election against Labour MPs they donāt like.

All this week accomplish is giving the Tories the win in that constituency. Whether or not they beat Blairite Labour depends on the constituency, but across the nation I reckon they'd be on the same level as the Lib Dems, at best.

No I think they'd have a similar effect as The Independent Group/Change UK/Funny Tinge Party or whatever they were called.
'Momentum types' are a tiny number and I doubt they can convince much of the public without the mainstream machinery of the Labour party. They can cause a lot of damage inside the party, but not so much outside. And they know that, which is why they haven't and won't jump ship.

I'm living in a country where there is effectively only one party that has any chance of winning. They've screwed a lot of things up over the past 2 years and almost everyone thinks they're crap... but it doesn't matter as there's no viable alternative so everyone knows they'll win the next election anyway.
It seems worryingly like the UK is sleepwalking / has sleepwalked into the same situation.
If and when Scotland becomes independent, there seems to be no chance of Labor ever winning a majority again. Even if it weren't for all the infighting and them seemingly shooting themselves in the foot at every possible opportunity.

According to the govt we should return to buying petrol in the normal way, Ā£20 each time. Iāve been doing it wrong all this time then, I just fill it when itās empty

Well a fair few of our vans won't have fuel to go out tomorrow by the looks of it unless a solution suddenly pops up overnight. No fuel at the station near our depot and the area I work in has been cleaned out. Think I just about have enough to get back.

A similar article was doing the rounds yesterday. But in this one some twenty something Tory was complaining that most of the girls his age on dating apps specified 'No Tories' and he felt he was being discriminated against.
