Holy hell is Badenoch the actual LoO? Yeah, and she made Mark François Shadow Defence Minister and Priti Patel Shadow Foreign Secretary. It's amazing. They have understood nothing, learnt nothing, accepted nothing, comprehend nothing. They are, hopefully, doomed forever.

The fuck is going on there? How the absolute fuck is that not an attempted murder charge? And lifetime driving ban too. Surprised if there's not room for a civil personal injury case to at least bankrupt the cunt or ensure he can never get insurance ever again

Legal answer. Attempted murder requires intention to kill.

I was under the impression that choice of weapon informs intention: ie. you shoot someone with a gun and any reasonable person would expect death is a highly likely outcome, ergo you can't claim "yeah I meant to shoot them but I didn't mean to kill them".
Punch someone and they die, you can reasonably claim you didn't intend to kill. Not sure you can claim that if your weapon of choice is a gun, or a chainsaw, or two tonnes of car

I'm not huge on second-guessing the judiciary and sentencing guidelines, but it seems perverse that this guy would ever be allowed to drive again.

Legal answer. Attempted murder requires intention to kill. So it was the other kind of reversing over a teenager in an SUV?

It's not really impulsive to go and get your mates and then drive around looking for some kids before running them over
Also, not deeply ashamed enough to own up instead of feigning ignorance of it until shown video evidence

If we hold people to such a standard Brian Harvey should've been tried for attempted self manslaughter

I don't make the law. Attempted murder requires the prosecution to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that the defendant intended to kill with absolutely no other possibility. It's a very difficult offence to prove. It's why hardly anyone gets charged with it, let alone convicted.
And yes, driving offence sentencing needs a massive overhaul in this country.

And if his mitigating factor is “sometimes I get so uncontrollably full of rage that I deliberately attack children with the largest and most deadly object I can get my hands on” maybe his access to large deadly objects needs to be limited

Intentionally driving his car into children then deliberately reversing back over one of them? Absolutely fuck this guy Relatedly, the Police seem to have given up on tracing the driving who left my sister-in-law with a broken neck and traumatic brain injury in a hit and run this summer. To their credit they did put out one whole social media post about it nearly two weeks after the incident so they did try. Looks a Northern 35.

None of this lot have a cult of personality about them though. Trump is the shit that causes that pile of garbage to stick together. Nobody's going to form a cult of personality around Kemi fucking Badenoch.
Though they might around Boris Cuntface's presumable return.

Nahh, none of those have the cult of personality to make a real difference Marc Francois is like the worst breakfast, roast dinner or fish and chips you've ever had and even then he's got his cock in your mouth.

Maybe they think they do though.
Or maybe they're going for the MAGA/TeaParty takeover of the Republican Party, but with Farage and UKIP/Reform/Whatever they're called these days and the Conservative party.
With the way the media and social media works these days, it'll probably work out for them.

Yeah maybe that's the long term strategy. There seems to a be bit of a flow of American money as well. No idea why, we're at the bottom of the G-whatever and have literally no fucking influence now, but they keep paying for some reason and the rubes here are buying into the extra culture wars bollocks. Can't wait for the 0.1% of the population that are trans to be demonised beyond all belief in 4.5 years time with Joint Cunts in Chief Rowling and Glinner leading the gurgle

Bit OT, but I read something during the US election coverage that there were 600+ bills / attempted bills over the last year targeting trans people. That 0.1% is sure punching above their weight in terms of being a massive threat.

Even less than that since none of these obsessives seem bothered about imagining that trans-men are a danger to society

Eh the Tories tried culture war for a good 4 or 5 years there and it achieved nothing. There's just loads of structural reasons why it's highly doubtful it'll have any influence.

I think that culture wars could work here but trying to do it when you’ve been in government for 15 years is a mistake. People vote in their own perceived interests first so if you’re wanking on about gender neutral toilets when the electorate blame you for not being able to fill up their cars or afford their full weekly shop because their wages have stagnated and every public service they engage with is fucked then they’re simply not going to listen.
But in opposition its a different narrative. Its the government have lied to you about improving your lives and now they want to force you to share a two-seater toilet cubicle with someone who uses non-traditional pronouns. Then people might prick up and think “I don’t want someone telling me how to live my shit life”

The Queen was not a fan of Johnson, who could have guessed, thank fuck that bullshit about trying to push "Elizabeth the Great" never went anywhere, there's only one "the Great" in this country and it's Alfred for better reasons than just opening the odd hospital and waving at Ascot. This is a snippet from Tim Shipman's book from today's Sunday Times.
