Is it wrong that I'm rooting for Bad Enoch? Not only is she a horrid racist, she's also a total moron. After seeing that the Tories lost because instead of actually addressing anything wrong with the country they spent ages going on and on about culture war bullshit, her reaction was to go MORE CULTURE WARS WOOOOOOOOOOO.
She'll surely consign them to irrelevance forever.

I wonder who the membership will vote for now. A black woman or a white man...

I also imagine ol' Nigel is happy with this result too.

The weekly Starmer Vs Badenoch will be painful to watch.

I'm not sure Bad Enoch's brain would be able to handle PMQ's, she'd just be stood at the despatch box yelling to machine gun the boats over and over again and screaming THATS WOKE in response to everything

I'm pretty sure Jenrick wished the Cleverly Gambit had worked, I think he knows it's going to be a difficult task to appeal to the insane membership like Badenoch.

Last time it was a brown man versus a white woman, we ended up with Truss.
So... Jenrick by a landslide?

I do fear that Badenoch could grow into the role and learn how to couch her racism in a veneer of respectability.

It might be a tad optimistic, but it feels like Labour won a second term today.

Jenrick is just a mini wannabe Farage/Trump and will caught out on dodgy funding and Kemi can’t help but suggest stupid shit. Both won’t be able to stop the Tory infighting and they’ll be looking for a new leader within the year. I would even say it might be existential for the Tory Party at the moment. Can see a few going off towards reform or the Lib Dem’s and all that’ll be left is David Cameron and a Pig.

The bad news is that if she wins the leadership contest, she'll have even less motivation to try* than she's had up to now.
* To be clear, I don't think she has ever made the slightest effort to rein in her disgusting racism... but if "telling it like it is" [in whatever passes for her mind] wins her the Tory leadership, what reason would she have to tone it down thereafter? She's more likely to take a page from the Trump playbook and turn it up to 11, like a Spinal Tap amplifier of obnoxious bullshit.

I’m loving this. The idea that the withered alum husks of the Tory party are voting for more of what helped them lose is just too delicious.

From the moment the candidates announced themselves I've been convinced Badenock would win for the simple reason that the Brexity remnants of the Conservatives reliably choose the worst option in all situations.
I'll admit I raised an eyebrow when Cleverly led the previous round, but really I needn't have worried he still had some semblance of respectability. It's so great that this contest does not matter in the slightest, and we can just laugh.

Saw some Tory members on Channel 4 earlier (down the road in Aldershot, whoop whoop) who were completely barmy. They "knew people" that would have left the party if Cleverly had become leader. They were all absolutely thrilled, but it was going to be such a tough choice to choose between two such fantastic candidates!
Completely oblivious to the fact that Labour were popping champagne corks at the news. You would think that if you had enough interest to be a member of party, you would have enough knowledge of what is going on to see that the general public hate Badenoch and aren't too fussed on Jenrick either. But, nope, let's plow ahead down cuckoo street.

Its such a corner they’re backed into.
They’ve eliminated everyone the general public have heard of or who has shown any leadership qualities and now its a pair who are only known for how mental and hated they are (but who, really, are total nobodies to anyone who isn’t all over Westminster).

I am expecting Starmer to cross the floor and take up the tory leadership. At this point I wouldn't complain. You can go as left as you want, dickhead but you won't. Gimme Rayner unchained and punching Rachel Reeves in the side of the head every time she moans about fiscal rules

Well then he has shown he has zero politicking skills. It's absolutely mad, Morgan McSweeeny (a fucking DC villain if I've ever heard of one) has spent 4 years whispering "be more tory and sack Sue asap" into his ear and here we are
