Ugh, I'm vaguely aware of Oakeshit but didn't know she's with Richard Tice. How is it allowed to have journalists (I know) that have such compromised positions? How do you know which positions?

I wonder if you held a gun to a photo of the queen he'd admit that he is only where he is today because of the BBC

Oakeshott is a scumbag, loyal henchwoman of mega-arsehole Ashcroft, girlfriend of Tice, a "journalist" of limited talent with approximately zero morals.

For early indication of turn out? Nah, it's not an exact science but we usually get some inkling of that throughout the day, no? Friend of mine with inside party info says 68% turnout already in Dorset, fwiw "extrapolating from postal votes and morning voting" apparently The Reform vote then…

Still got to do mine. Torries can fuck off but labour are just a different bag of bad shits. Would rather have Mr Bean than all these clowns.

Lots of rich old people dying very slowly. Pension day in Tescos looks like a swarm of locusts have been through.

Done... Labour nearly managed to lose my vote with the EU comments yesterday, but went for them in the end begrudgingly.
This was my experience to a T.
I voted Lib Dem last time - couldn't bring myself to back Corbyn when push came to shove - but I managed to put an 'X' next to the Labour candidate's name today, despite my frustration with Starmer's comments on the EU.

I also resisted the temptation to add a crudely-drawn penis to the Tory candidate's box - it seemed like the kind of thing that could get a vote disregarded.

I mean he's in his 60s and I doubt anyone is fully re-opening the re-joining conversation anywhere in the next decade and that negotiations would take fucking ages. I mean even getting people to be cool with joining the Euro would take FOREVER. Maybe Starmer is just guessing he'll last to 80 and drop dead. I other new Monbiot noticed the world is dangerous and we may need to re-arm: linkTHEN WHY GO AROUND TELLING PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR CORBYN? YOU FUCKING CRETIN!

It is also worth actually reading the full remarks and context he said this "not in my lifetime" comment. He was asked the question by a journalist whether he could see us rejoining in his lifetime. He said something along the lines of "I don't see that happening", before proceeding with the same thing we have heard him say before regarding what has been done has been done, no going back, closer relationship, etc. I don't even think he actually said "not in my lifetime".
It really wasn't particularly news worthy and certainly far away from the "ONLY OVER MY DEAD BODY" that some people have interpreted it as.

It's election day in N Ireland too, will go after work. DUP usually a stronghold where I live but I always do my part to make sure they don't. Maybe the fact they did their part to disband Stormont for about 2 years plus their leader getting exposed as an incest raping pedo wont do them any favors, but who can say. Haven't had any candidate come round campaigning at our door, usually the norm.

It's become more and more uncomfortable in the office as the day has gone on. I live and work in wildly different constituencies and while I kinda always knew it, today has confirmed I'm sat amongst a bunch of Tory sympathizers who are absolutely mortified that it's somehow in their heads going to be fractionally lower opportunity to hate for a while.
I can't wait to get out of here, get to the polling station and laugh when the exit polls roll in.

The funny thing is I'm sure if you asked them if things had gotten better or worse over the last 14 years they'd all say "much worse" to a T, but be unable to correlate that fact with the current government.

Can you actually take your dog in the polling station?
My big Bernese idiot would love it but I'm worried he'll decide to piss as soon as he smells other dogs' scents.

Not as a rule, per the Beeb:
Although apparently it may be allowed on a discretionary basis.

I've actually been quite impressed in my current office compared to my old team (who were all 'Boris is a great laugh and he's doing his best' types'. Now I'm amongst a mix of sensible lefty/centre types and some 'they're all the sames'.

Our polling station allows dogs, but we left them outside anyway. Didn't want to risk it with my little buggers.

Voted this morning.
I know at work we as contractors can talk about politics if we like (we don't) but the other departments can't and an email was sent out to remind them. I'm not entirely sure why, something to do with a change in government will effect what the organisation can do.
