Are the Tories trying to wind the clock back with everything? Mad Cow Disease found on Somerset farm.
What next? The Cones Hotline?

Surely at some point the penny had to do with Johnson's voter base that non of his policies-to-own-the-libs actually make anyone's life better. They've got to realise that eventually. Right? 🙁

Right? 🙁 No. They do know, they don't care, he says the things they want to hear, villifies the people they hate, and 'tells it like it is' (despite lying more than any dozen of his predecessors put together). And has all the most viciously twisted elements of our press on side, who may poke him occasionally, but only to remind him he needs them. This is it, as long as he wants it. There might be a lot of Tories in the party who can see exactly what he is, but if he keeps delivering the sort of majorities that make dodging any and all outside scrutiny at all levels a breeze, I can't see them turning on him. There's little left in terms of actions that would utterly disgrace anyone who understood the concept of shame, that he hasn't already done anyway.

And as if to prove the point, just when you thought this week couldn’t generate anymore WTF from you…
Former education secretary Gavin Williamson is reportedly being tipped for a knighthood following his departure from the Cabinet.

It's hilarious. They clearly were desperate to get him out of government but conscious that he knows only too well where many of the bodies are buried. So they've just bought him off with a knighthood. He's 45 and only been in politics for a little over 10 years, after picking up a safe Tory seat when his predecessor retired. Apparently widely loathed as a whip and then fucked the two cabinet briefs he's had. Nice work if you can get it.

Haven’t we already had Suez in Kabul? Yeah why not. Another Gallipoli then, except this time it's called 'Calais'.

The interview with a representative of the Chinese government on Channel 4 news last night was scary. It was about Taiwan and he kept correcting Krishnan that if China were to occupy the country it wouldn't be an invasion, it would be a reunification and that the US wouldn't be prepared to lose more sons and daughters in a potential conflict like they have in Afghanistan. The fact that he called it a reunification meant that it is on the cards, reading between the lines.

The west forgot about Crimea pretty fast so of China wants Taiwan there probably isn’t much that can get in their way. Unless AUKUS wants a new Cold War/WW3

I really hate the CCP is the nastiest bully on the block and always claim they are the victim I'm not a fan of the Chinese government at all, but let's not completely discount how America can act and has acted when it comes to victimhood especially when it depends on who the president is at that time in history.

I had kind of hoped that a consequence of Afghanistan would be that we would distance ourselves a bit in our relationship with the US. But I guess not. It seems like we get used to vindicate militaristic foreign policy.

Thats never going to happen with CCP. China is rich and powerful and its dangerous threat to the world and give zero shits with russia (who do the same thing but without the money)

Everyone ready to scrimp and save this winter? Three-day week will be up next to help keep the lights on while we pick sugar beet and turnips.

^ Prompted by reading about Bulb needing to raise cash urgently to help them afford the wholesale gas prices. If they're the 6th biggest and struggling… we'll all be back with British Gas etc before long

It's weird how the tories talked about how voting Labour would take us back to the seventies.

Not sure what the point of having a privatised energy market is if you just bail the companies out. Surely we should be looking at nationalising the failing ones.

Bulb being the 6th biggest is pretty meaningless when the top 5 cover 3/4 of the market, there’s about 60 companies fighting for the last quarter. It’s like saying you’re the 4th best British tennis player
