Er, a bit like the majority of the electorate not voting for you in the 2005 and 2010 elections then?

13.2% does sound quite low. No idea what percentage these normally get, but I did recently hear the only time one of these didn't pass was in Ian Paisley's seat, which also happened to be the first time a recall petition happened (also have heard that there were shenanigans involved, but not sure on the details).

I believe Bone had a comfortable majority, so I expect this one won't be changing hands.

They don't need to suggest it. The voters have got quite good at tactical voting lately. That last one Labour and the Lib Dems both went for it but Labour still won.

Yeah that one was fucking mad. Silver lining it convinced Sunak to go pro car, which seems to have gone down like a fart in a space suit.

My piss isn’t sugar free.

As a resident of Wellingborough, I did not vote for the recall of Peter Bone. And not doing so took a great courage of strength, as I fucking hate the tories. But Peter Bone helped my disabled father with the DWP before he passed, helped a friend, who is ex forces, table a motion that passed, and wasn’t completely awful. He wore a stupid, knitted hat in the HoP; to support a local charity. 

On top of that, Northamptonshire is proper BNP country. So he would have had a lot of support locally. And, he has been accused of wrongdoing. If I punched someone at work, I would be suspended, pending an investigation. I won’t lose any sleep if he is found to be a pervert and I waited for some proof.

Well, it’s two things, right? It’s literally his job to support people at a local level. It’s an absolute bare minimum and I know it’s a bar very few of them are able to leap over but here we are. And at a macro level, very few people are ‘evil’. It’s why you get racists coming out with ‘but you’re one of the good ones’.

But at that national, society wide level he has not only propped up a nasty, vicious government, he has voted for frankly offensive legislation and said some disgusting things in parliament.

So, yes, he may have worn a funny hat one time but also fuck him all the way into the sun.

Bone is very much at the heart of the numpty side of the party. I'm sure he has done some good things (and we should hear more about the positive things all MPs do for their communities) and completely understand why it would be hard to dislike an MP that helped you and your family personally, but the damage he has been involved with far outweighs any individual stories of Samaritan acts.

I think this sums up the two sides thing.

My local Tory sent round a flyer the other week.
One of the sections had him heroically standing next to a repaired 6ft long patch of road that had recently deteriorated rather rapidly. And he was doing the usual “fixing local problems” spiel.

But, everyone who lives here knows that literally 6ft from where the photographer was standing and in the MP’s eye-line, is a drain that collapsed in February 2018 and has never been repaired despite numerous complaints.

MP: Look, I got this little thing fixed.
Public: What about this important bit of infrastructure mate?

Comms have absolutely smashed that.
