and it looks like she lied about it to get into a peerage I think Dave (sorry, Lord Dave of Chipping Norton) gave her the peerage in 2015ish for services to.. uh.. something? Maybe Prince Wills, or Osborne had a word, given their interests in her pre-PPE field. She's been long known to be an arse in Scotland, it was a bit of a surprise to us. It was so she could punt the No to independence line. Lots of stories about staff being mistreated. I knew people who worked for her, didn't sound like fun. athousandflowers.net/2015/08/02/weekly-wanker-054-michelle-mone/

Wasn’t one of the big PPE contracts given to the landlord at Hancock’s local or something like that too?

If they went for banning all algorithmic based social media feeds, I'd vote Tory. That stuff is cancer, the true AI threat. Meaningless unless the whole planet does it. Unless the Tories install some Great Firewall of China (which I'm sure they'd love to) then any unilateral measure by this little island ain't making any difference.

Some of the moves by the EU have had a big impact on the Internet, for better or worse. It's such a big market that companies have had to bend to their will, so there is precedent at least.

What is the Tory obsession with Evangelicalism, loads of their MPs are proper nasty god fearing thundercunts Well people into that sort of thing are typically more conservative in their views. If you interpret the bible the way they do, they see it as man, wife, two children living the chaste life.

So today the Tory war via the Daily Mail is attacking Starmer for... *checks notes* trying to save the life of a dog in 2002.
They are fucking nuts.

I saw the Telegraph had Jordan Peterson of all people doing a piece where he said that Starmer would make the UK like Venezuela in 20 years. Kier Starmer. That well known socialist.

All that does is tell me they've got some desperate flailing going on. They're probably shitting it for when he gets in, as 5 (and most likely 10 if the covid enquiry stuff continues) years is a long time to make some changes.

So I'm not surprised that people made a lot of money off these. The 30% margin MM made is just taking the piss. It's been years since we've made anywhere near that, with the drop in the value of the £, inflation etc. This is the staggering thing for me. They siphoned away £60m in profit. £29m funnelled into a Trust for the kids and the yachts. They are absolutely staggering profits. For what effectively appears to be placing an order on AliExpress. £5m would be an eye watering amount of money, but given the size of the awarded contract it would be a couple of percent and understandable. But given the state of the world now - and especially during the COVID pandemic - it shows just how rotten is the system. By my calculations, that could've been 166 quid for EVERY (360k) nurse in the UK. And that's one corrupt deal out of fk knows how many.

Lock them in a room with an industrial sized viral load of the rona, with only their own PPE for protection

He bought the donkey sanctuary for his mum, so he probably hates the royal family and our veterans because her donkeys ate some German grown aristocratic poppys or something Also why won't he eat bacon in public eh? EH?

Also, donkeys are foreign. Why can’t he have a proper British sanctuary, one with robins or summat

I'm a bit removed from UK news while back in NZ but absolutely delighted to see the PPE headlines. I've read a few statements from Baroness Mone and the complete lack of humility or accountability is staggering.
Bypassing any tender process, abusing privilege to make obscene profits from a pandemic, hiding their involvement and lying about it for years! There's zero acknowledgement of guilt. Just a "poor us" victim mentality.
It's repulsive.

I've only read a few text excerpts from the interview, but the "lying to the media is not a crime" bit really riled me up. Just such a typical modern Tory response.
Rishi's "we're taking this very seriously" is pretty obviously a "please God let there be another war or something so that the proles can just forget about this and move on"

Aye, most of the ire should be aimed at the Government, who designed the procurement processes, deliberately ignoring established providers in favour of 2 bit companies to enrich their mates. Makes me so furious. Private Eye has been banging on about this for yonks.

Today's news telling us what we already know - NHS dentists are gone. If we ever really had them.

My dentist has just been taken over and luckily have added an NHS dentist, having been without one for yonks. Managed to get the kids in for their first check up in 18 months. He was glowing, "best teeth I've seen all week". Makes all the nagging worthwhile! Determined my kids aren't going to do what I did and neglect them.
