AW man Load, that must be tough to deal with when you can't get back to help out.
Sorry to read that.

Got the call today. They're stopping treatment and letting her go peacefully. Sat outside the ward now after spending some time with her. Just needed some air and some water and then I'll go back to her. She looks so frail. Always has been, but this is horrible.

Sorry, that's got to be so difficult.
It's good you get to be there with her.

Thanks everyone. She passed earlier today. Needless to say I've been with some friends and am a little drunk right now. Glad for autocorrect as this would have been a mess.
My Mum was a true fighter and deserved a much better life than she had.

Sounds like she had a pretty good son. I'm sure that brought her happiness.
All the best mate.

Sorry to hear that mate. I meant to write something a few days ago but I'm shit at this sort of thing. Losing your mum is brutal and 13 years on I still can cry about certain things sometimes. Take care

My Mum was a true fighter and deserved a much better life than she had. My deepest condolences, as others have said, be kind to yourself and try and take some comfort in being able to be there for your mum. It's so hard to get your head around, give yourself plenty of time, I'm still struggling 5 months later but there are chinks of light at the end of the tunnel on occasion, need to just plug away.

Thank you everyone. Getting a lot of things sorted over the next couple of days.
This is the reason why we need forums. This support and being able to share and help each other. This is exactly the human side that we all need.

So sorry for your loss convercide, it's never easy to see someone so close to you go. Try to stay busy and safe, but also give yourself some time to mourn. We lost my mother 6 years ago after she fell in a coma and stayed in ICU for around 40 days without waking up at all. Every day that me and my father visited we hoped we'd get some good news, but came back crushed until the bitter end...

For those in the UK ITV showed a programme last night (it's on ITV hub now,) called Silent Killer - Pancreatic cancer.
That's the one I have and the show reflected how hard it is to diagnose as the symptoms are so generic (my GP initially thought it was a gluten intolerance,) and how late in the day they appear.
I had no symptoms at all until April. The scan in June showed a 5cm tumour that had spread. Even if my GP had got it spot on at my first appointment in mid April it'd have been too late. I was fucked before any symptoms showed.
Fuck cancer, and fuck pancreatic cancer in particular.

I didn’t want to bump this thread but it’s bumped now so.
My dad passed away earlier this week. The side effects from the chemo gave him an infection that turned into pneumonia that he was ultimately too weak to fight off.
Thought we’d have more time with him and I’d get to see him in person one last time but it wasn’t to be.

On a slightly good note though, the dog is in remission, so that’s something I guess.
