New patch today, 5.9gb on Steam version.
That sounds like a kind of existential hell.

Nice. I agree with all the comments about CP being a flawed experience, and the launch was a heinous debacle, but it's still one of my favourite games of all time. Witcher 1/2 were similarly flawed, and then 3 blew the doors off.

Skippy remains the one side mission thing not complete on my map. Reverted to previous save 2 minutes after picking it up. Glad I did now, that would have been even more annoying.

Picked this up recently, to go with my obscene purchase of a 4090. However, I see from previews of Phantom Liberty that they are doing a big re-jig of the base game along with the new content.
Assume I should just wait the 3 months for the expansion to come out before diving in?

I still think it's one of the best RPGs I've played. I find really care a huge amount about the combat and shit but it's one of the best written games I've played.

It was mostly fine at launch... If you had a next gen machine or a beefy PC, that is. It was an absolute clusterfuck for previous gen owners. It even got removed from the PS store FFS!
Gaslighting twit.

Yes, they are trying to write an alternate history. Are they including Sony piling on when they removed it from the store for being so bad?
How bad does it have to be for Sony to take money out of their own pockets

Not only was the last gen console launch "not good" (understatement) some of the patches made it worse too.

Even if the sentiments he expressed are commonplace within CDPR, voicing them to the press is an idiotic move from a PR standpoint.
The game came out 2.5 years ago, dude. You took a (deserved) hit, then gradually improved it while slowly clawing back some of the goodwill you'd squandered with that piss-poor launch - now people rate the game and your company, at least to some extent, and the forthcoming DLC is eagerly anticipated. Why break out the world's smallest violin at this juncture?
Oh, and your company didn't create the email address 'helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com' because a bunch of bandwagon-hopping meanies on the internet forced you into it, dumbass.

I think that GS article is twisting the context and making it the focus a bit too much. Read the GIBiz interview and it's a tiny summary that focuses on their intent to come good, not gain sympathy or rewrite history.

I agree that GameSpot (and Push Square, who also covered the story) placed additional emphasis upon those particular remarks, perhaps unduly so... ... But he still made them in the first place. As CDPR's 'VP of PR and communication', he really should've known how they'd be interpreted.
Clickbait journalism aside, this is disingenuous at best, and dishonest at worst.
I'm still looking forward to Phantom Liberty, mind!

Eh. A guy who moved in with me recently laughed that I had CP2077 as it’s such a terrible game everyone says. Last year I had a different guy do the same. I put him on it and he thought it was amazing.
There’s clearly still people around who believe what they heard years ago from “let’s be furious about everything” guys who are probably still ranting about No Man’s Sky and Batman v Superman as worse than The Holocaust.

Just started afresh on this, been a while. The sound is oddly muffled and it’s ruining it. It’s like my ears are full of water (they’re not, I checked). Doesn’t seem to matter what I set the PS5 audio settings to, or what I piss about with on my amp. Did anyone have similar and solve it?

There is a mob mentality around gaming, and it was “the thing” to make fun of it. That said, it was the buggiest game I’d played at launch, but it was still a good. I played the PS4 version on PS5. They designed a good game but programmed it terribly, is the real issue. Like they learned about the PS5 and Series X midway through development and decided to optimize it for SSDs. So those big texture bugs everyone laughed at at launch? Word was they were only on last gen and were eliminated if you played on a current gen console. Not exactly true. If you have it installed in the internal SSD (or later a second one, when they allowed for a second drive), you were golden! But if you decided to install the game on an external HDD to make room for native PS5 games, you’d get the same texture bugs as PS4. There were other bugs too I remember saving and quitting during a key story moment. Coming back the next day, and the car was flipped vertically and a character was impaled on it. Honestly, it’s still not perfect. Driving is a pain, NPCs will randomly disappear when you get near them, NPC and traffic data suddenly stops processing, the waypoint system is terrible, making you look away from the road to look up at the map. Really, every time I start thinking about how much I enjoyed the story, I come up with a million things about the game that annoy me too. Oh, Night City is a cool location though.

I certainly enjoyed my time in the game once it got to a playable state, completed the PS4 version on PS5 and I had a good time eventually. I was already invested in the universe having played Cyberpunk back when it was 2013 in its first edition and 2020 is still one of my favourite TTRPGs.
There's stuff that still could be better, the driving really isn't much cop but one thing that's really annoying is Night City has a metro system, it even appears in one of the game's trailers but unless you mod the game is not useable.
I'm looking forward to Phantom Liberty as it certainly looks like it'll be a big upgrade on the original game.

Is the dlc free or do we need to fork out for it?
I really enjoyed my time with the game, but traded my discs, so would need to get a hold of some again.
Quite tempted if the story quality is as good.

$30. Really wish they’d made it free as an apology for the shite condition it launched in, but that’s me being entitled.
Oh, and I think there’s a launch deal where they sell the digital version plus expansion for the price of just the game, so if you sold your disc, that’s the best way to jump in.

I still haven't been able to complete it. I got drunk at the wake and the drunk effects never turned off so my only save game has me listing to the left all the time.
I was really enjoying it till then. This was recently too, when the next gen patch came out.

My (perhaps flawed!) perception of the PS5/XSX update for Cyberpunk was that it went over well - for instance, the Push Square writer who gave the game 3/10 at launch scored the current-gen version 8/10 - and people seem to be pretty psyched for the DLC.
They also released the Witcher 3 update for free, although that was another technical shitshow at launch.
So, um... "A little bit", and, "Kind of" (YMMV on both fronts) are my answers!

I just assumed most people have moved on and the only ones left are the ones who want it to be good. Patching a game that launched in a terrible state should be considered bare minimum, certainly not worthy of any good will

People always compared it to Witcher 3’s launch, but that game was never this bad. That was, at worst, Spiders-level buggy. Cyberpunk was in full-on Piranha Bytes territory.
