Generally two types of 'prop' guns. A non-firing replica or basically a normal gun with blanks loaded. Load live ammo and your prop gun is a gun. The other alternative I can think of is blanks do fire some kind of wadding for a short distance. That can kill from close range if it strikes you in the head. Given the fact two people were affected I'd sadly say it sounds like a live round was fired in this case. Can't even imagine how he'd feel, life ruining stuff. Sounds like they’re saying it was loaded with live ammo but Baldwin was told it was safe. |

Apparently in film talk a gun loaded with "live ammo" could just be loaded with blanks, so still not 100% confirmed to be an actual bullet until someone specifically says that, unless I've missed something...
Sounds like they recently changed to a cheaper non union prop company.

This isn’t a huge surprise. Someone I knew had to move city 7 times for 4 years chasing precarious early career academic contracts. Until recently, that was the basis of most of the economy. The balance of power was shifted by Thatcher 40 years ago now from employee to employer, but in the last 15 years, it has seemed that all the power has rested with the employer. With many sectors facing staff shortages there may be a rebalancing of power, but I don't expect it to last long. |

Worked for Railtrack for a bit, office opposite the safety & standards bods who went out to rail disasters, & left with a deep sense of their integrity, everyone in that office was fucking haunted and determined.

I worked for them for a bit. The York office scheduling replacement rail drops for repairs etc. Actually it was partly a team set up after a really nasty station accident in the late 90s (forget the name). I did a Two day course on 'Railway Infrastructure' which included some shocking footage of crashes and suicides. I was a lot more explicit than the news would ever show. But then when the guy helping out with training explained some of things he'd had to deal with over his 30 odd years there I understood why. |

Was in Derby, and yeah had some of that training with my personal track safety cert, heads are not as attached to torsos as you might think (after being hit by trains). All a bit grim.
