I definitely thought it deserved another look, but Carley had made his mind up right away.

Which is strange considering where he was standing. Also when Ireland just before that went the length of the pitch I thought Scotland had a knock on advantage that was always under pressure which was confusing. Oh well. Another year of kind of dreading water. Previously we had shit first halves with stunning come backs, now we keep bottling second halves... it's like whack-a-mole and fixing a problem just exacerbates a new problem. Here's hoping the women show some progress!

You've got the moral victory: England can't win the thing now

I'm just kinda sick of 3rd place and being "close". On the other hand regularly coming 3rd is so much better than the 20 previous years of duking it out for the spoon.
But the gap between 3rd and just winning is fucking narrow. It's what's great about the Six Nations, it's so close. But also one of these years the fucking random chance luck system of a couple of held up decisions here and there ought to have fallen in our favour by now. I think I'm still just annoyed at Pivac's Jam-Slam.

Lawrence Dallaglio is such a great commentator. I especially like the fact that he's incapable of identifying players correctly.
Superb try for France - 10-3 after 20 minutes.

I've done my usual thing, the republican thing, about 30 seconds in to God Save the King I was grumbling then Les Marseillais kicks in and.... "Allez Les Bleus!"

Get in! Thought the pass to Underhill was forward. But maybe it's just the angles..

Dallaglio identifying everything England do as Great/Excellent/Good, when half the time it's bang average or a French mistake is quite annoying. Save your superlatives for when something actually is!

Just when you think England had pulled it off, it's England give away a penalty time. Fuck's sake.

Can't be too upset about a 2 point loss away to France in a bouncing stadium. Glad that we occasionally look like we know what we're doing.

A great game of rugby - shame England couldn't hang on for the win, but either side could've come out on top and the result wouldn't have been unfair.
Not a bad start to what I hope is the post-Farrell era, all told.

How about that try? It was good... ? What's your point? I wasn't having a crack at England, just the dreary uncritical nature of his commentary.
