Sure players need to be protected from dangerous tackles but this is going way too far with Currys red yesterday and everyone calling for a sa red today. Neither tackle was dangerous or reckless, it's a full contact/violent sport and of course there will be accidents where people bang heads. Reds ruin games and should only be used for dangerous or obvious intentional violent actions.

"No clear foul play"?
EDIT: For context, this was my astonished reaction to Matt Carley not penalising the Wales hooker for a shoulder-only tackle that prevented Fiji scoring a try!

I get where you're coming from, but rugby is going to get hit with the mother of all concussion/dementia lawsuits soon and they have to keep trying to prevent any and all head contact. The issue at the moment, for me, is consistency. If reds were always handed out for head contact and the bans weren't so arbitrary and based on how polite the player is to the panel then it would be an issue maybe twice this entire tournament, but instead we've got stupid shit like Steward in the 6N getting red while someone headbutts his hip, vs Farrell in the warmups being a dirty cunt and almost getting away with it until WR are forced to step in, and the head on head being completely missed despite 30 cameras and at least four refs watching proceedings (one of whom, Gardner, refused to have a second look despite Ritchie making the request in the proper way) I think that if you tackle upright, you run the risk of not playing for a while. And I just want that and all head batterings/high tackles to be consistently reffed and punished, because that is the law now.

Also there's an upright soak tackle, Vs you're hitting it hard upright. The Chile one was only a yellow because it was passive.

What Danno said, 100%.
Doing everything possible to prevent head contact is the right course of action, both ethically (in terms of player welfare), and practically (in terms of safeguarding the future of the sport).

Wales looking good for the win, bit boring that the Tier 2 nations aren't living up to the hype so far.

Immense defending by Wales but lucky to survive without getting a yellow card

Well that's that
More inconsistent reffing to add to the pule, Wales didn't get a single yellow for their cynical offsides when under pressure, then Fiji get handed one easily.

Matt Carley trying to out-shit Gardner's bed with that card. Absolute joke.

Of all the things I dislike about Dan Biggar - and there are many - perhaps the most prominent is that he's a great player.

Danno Agreed, 'cause he winds me up as much as Farrell in terms of his personality; however, unlike Farrell, I do rate him highly on a purely playing level. What a finish that was - not the result I wanted, but thrilling nonetheless.
Total shithouse cynicism from Wales across the board, but I'd expect nothing less!

I normally rate Carley in the Prem, but he wasn't at his best tonight.

Carley should retire, he absolutely robbed Fiji until the last 8mins when he grew a pair. Biggar and 16 should have seen yellow before Fiji got one.

Not to mention the try-saving "tackle" from Wales earlier on (yes, I plan to bang that drum a little longer).
My throat hurts from shouting at the TV.
