I'm impressed at how badly Argentina have managed to fuck up a man advantage for most of the match.

This could be a big galvanising performance surely. And a win against the big danger in the bag. A semifinal is well within reach now. Now we just need Scotland to beat SA and, later, Wales to take out Australia and Ireland to also beat SA. All NH semi-finals.

Some proper game management this. Impressive in the circumstances. (slightly worried about what next, biy I guess lean in to it...)

Argentina get a rare penalty - promptly fucks it up. Utterly awful performance from them.

Yeah Argentina make a lot of errors but that's the best I've seen England for ages. That defence was immense. I can't remember ford playing like that on national level either for a long long time.

The worst performance I've ever seen from Argentina, but fair play to England - that was light-years ahead of how they've played recently.

I haven't watched as much rugby lately as I'd like but I've no idea why anyone would want a northern hemisphere team win. Not sure about right now but generally the rugby championship is infinitely more entertaining than the 6 nation's. So although I don't really have an allegiance I would generally like the southern teams to win as they play way way more attractive rugby. Australian rugby league (the NRL) is the best form of rugby in either code by far. It’s the most skilful, most athletic and most entertaining by some distance It's all about the Queensland v NSW series every year. Rugby of the highest level. Edit state of origin. I'm a bit drunk and my brain couldn't remember it's name.

I'll take that. Not a great game. Either both cards were yellow or both were red and I'm getting quite tired of the officials fucking that up.
Ford took every point available and Arg were really, really poor. Interested to see Wales Fiji tomorrow, if Wales lose that it might be on for an Aus Eng QF and that fucking Gollum-lite will have been planning for it since he first signed his Aus HC contract.

George Ford getting Player of the Match is a big surprise to everyone I would think.

Origin is just peak sport full stop, it very rarely lets you down in terms of intensity, violence, passion and often controversy The issue is that it’s on TV here 3 Wednesday mornings at 10.30 so not many people watch it

Well I enjoyed it. England a player down for 78 minutes played the perfect game and I love some excellent D, something they haven't shown for ages. That Argentina team almost beat NZ and SA recently, both away from home.

I love rugby, alcohol, great movies and gaming. I'm such a catch!!! Haha. But yes I haven't watched origin for a few years now because as you say it's terrible timing and on a channel your have to pay for etc.

That was awful. Genuinely one of the worst games of rugby I've watched in over a decade Argentina were horrible. England played exactly the way they needed to in the circumstances and it worked. George Ford is our new God (and should have been annointed as such at least 10 years ago but you know, some Wigan cunt exists)

I'm all for Ford bringing back the lost art of the drop goal as well. In tense nail biting situations. But England's full on not even bothering to attempt to run with the ball or score a try was contemptible. It was like watching the worst possible version of 00s rugby. The kind where Chris Patterson somehow kicked Scotland to victory against the Boks. There was no joy in that just misery. Yes the Boks are going to do this to Scotland later today. But fuck me.

Eh, I’m not going to bash England for not playing some rugby last night. They were down to 14 for practically the entire game against what is usually a decent side, that should have more than enough to beat us. Honestly, it was a super performance and I don’t think anyone in England watching cared about us not ‘playing’. The joy was watching a be-leagued side pulling together, defending resolutely, then getting into Argentina’s heads and pretty much controlling the second half territorially was great to watch. Sure it may have been nice, if they kicked to touch for one of their later pens and tried to score a try but then I think you’re just asking for a mistake to happen and giving the opposition an opening to get back in the match.

Add in the fact it was 30+ degrees in the stadium... England really didn't have the luxury of being able to play running rugby. Argentina only battled over the line at minute 79 because of England exhaustion. You could see Itoje barely had the energy for facial expressions at the final whistle. That level of exhaustion would have set in a lot quicker if they'd looked to play attractive, flowing rugby. I think there was enough there to show that they went out with the intention of running it, and not just in the first 3 minutes. It's evident that wasn't the game plan they had going into the game, but it was the game plan they needed in the circumstances. Probably not one for the neutrals, I understand that. But I wasn't, and I enjoyed the hell out of it (after spending the first 15-20 minutes swearing and sulking).

First world cup where I've not bothered to tune into an England game, such is my despondence with the current state of our team. See I was like this and then I happened to switch the TV to tv by accident at 8:20pm. The best accident I've had in many a time!
