Well, I'm still soloing on with this faith regeneration build. It's turning out quite nice. With the blessed mace, adjudicator shield and regeneration ring, that's 3 stackable hp regen going - which is very comfy I've managed 1-1, 1-2 (and the side gate is open RobEG ), 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 and 5-1. Still got to do flametwatface but I've upped magic to 10 just so I can cast poison cloud on the stupid buffoon. But 4-2 with a half decent bow and evacuate is still a farming beauty spot. With the ring of avarice on, I can get 4,400 souls in exactly 16 seconds (timed it!) from the first reaper and his spawned goons, so leveling at least for a while is sorted. 21 vit 20 end 24 fth Bout level 35-40 at a guess Mace is still thwacking things successfully too.

I fired it back up the other day. Beat the tutorial demon, which was surprisingly easy considering I’ve not played it for a long time
Definitely still prefer the PS3 version but it is a good remake

That's good skills. I don't think I've ever beaten him tbh.
Yeah, the original has something that the remake doesn't. The only way I can describe it is like the difference between software quake and open gl quake. Software is rougher round the edges, whereas the open gl one is smooth and looks better, but there's something about the responsiveness about the software version. I find it's similar in this scenario too.
Still, it's all ace fun regardless. And i *am* going to kill flamelurker

Yeah it’s good. I’ve beaten armoured spider and the tower knight too, again both were super easy, didn’t even need to use grass. Not sure if it’s easier on PS5 or I’ve just played too many FROM games
The tower knight fight is a pale imitation of the original thought, which was just unbelievably epic at the time with that incredible soundtrack. It felt not much more than a normal enemy this time
Beat that stupid dragon on the way too

Yes you're right there - the difference in music really makes a difference. I was genuinely quite sad when I realised they'd changed the music for 5-3. That's one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard in the original. Definitely contributes. It's a shame but there it is. Haha, yeah, stupid dragon I was finding it easy too at the start, but flamelurker and world 5 soon woke me up and punched me in the kisser

Love 5-3 - “Leave us slayer of demons”
Makes you feel like a baddie. The music, the voice acting, the fact that it’s over in one hit at the end
Just perfect

Ha ha! The game must have heard me say it was easy somehow as I decided to do 4-1 next, got to the end no problem. Entered the boss area and Adjudicator one shotted me as I walked down the first set of stairs Got the fat fucker the second time

Everything about it is brilliant. I never want to kill Garl either. Hitting him while hearing them both scream at me to leave is gut wrenching

That took a few goes till I stupidly remembered I need to 2 hand my weapon for smashing the pillars. Doh. Still, world 2 done now

Good stuff. I beat Flamelurker earlier, got the DBS and took it to Scirvir - don’t know why as I’m doing a DEX character so I don’t need the pure Greystone
Alternating between the Crescent Falchion, Dragon Long Sword and a Moon Uchigatana
Also got a Sharp Uchi that I’ll use once my DEX gets to a decent level
I can never get the Dragon God right for some reason, only have that one death to a boss so far but I know I’ll die there multiple times
The toughest enemy for me is gravity though, it’s so easy to fall of things to your death in this game

No Claymore this time though as I’m leaving STR at 18 - unless I two hand it? Probably not though, I use it far too often

Yeah I picked up the dbs too. Is scirvir in world 5? I always have a blind spot with him and selen. Can't remember the tendency for either of them either. Nor satsuki.
Nice dex weapons load out. I do miss my dex builds but forced myself to do regen this time as I'm always doing dex like you're always using the claymore!
The dragon stumps me every time at first because I need to work out the timings. I can never remember which pillars you hit and then carry on running, compared to the ones you have to hit and retreat a bit. It's his bloody claw attack on the second pillar (heads up) that stumped me this time. In the end, simply 2 handing my mace smashes the pillars fully in 2 hits which gives me more time which I think is the key bit.

Not a jibe honestly quadfather I’ve fell to my death at least 10 times already but only lost to a boss once. I’m just too casual when dropping down in 2-2 Samildanach yeah he’s in that cave at pure white tendency. The writing is funny, he seemed quite “turned on” when I showed him the large sword Anyway I ended up doing the Dragon God first attempt so luck was on my side

So I found a copy of the Asian version of Demon's Souls everybody was importing back in the day that I'd thought I'd lost which I never played because I got the Atlus Deluxe version that released later.
I thought I'd just give it a go to see what the original English version was like, there's some really 'interesting' word choices like duration instead of durability that make screens full of stats a real joy to parse.
I thought I'd be done in twenty minutes. Suddenly five hours of my life had disappeared and I'd completed 1-1. 1-2, 2-1, 5-1 and am currently creeping around 3-1. The remake just doesn't have the atmosphere, it's so rare for games to use darkness like this these days. Sections of Latria reduce your view so severely it's almost like Silent Hill, with you as a pool of light surrounded by mostly darkness. It's still my favourite souls or soulslike of all the ones I've played.

I agree with Cappy there. As good as the remake is the OG still rules

I had that import version. Good times. Felt like a genuine new experience in gaming at the time. I think it had a little guide?

Yeah I had an import copy too (thanks region free PS3)
It was actually the first souls game I played too, so I came at the series properly, unlike some of you late adopters winky face.

Yeah I agree with the og one too. I was in 5-2 last night, and you can see the black phantom meat cleaver from miles away. It really needs the draw distance /darkness/fog or something because the remake is pretty lacking in that respect.
In other news I got the second maneater down to 1 hp.
You know what happens next.
