Tom Daley should give him lessons because it was pretty terrible.
Edit: hopefully the equaliser is a sign to push on because they've been a bit shit in the first half.

Still able to have hope!

Milan looked absolutely woeful first half and deserved to be 2-0 down. Great comeback.

I saw that, shame for him after just coming back from previous injury issues too, hope it's not too serious.
Given the wages they must be paying him, and in their current financial difficulties, it is slightly amusing to see barca struggling so much at long last.
I must be a right meanie, since I really do like it when the general football orthodoxy of the big clubs get a shake from time to time, and there's plenty of that happening just now.

www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2021/nov/10/golden-goal-ronaldo-for-internazionale-v-lazio-1998Nice bit of nostalgia for 'Proper' Ronaldo. v1, up until the 'incident' at the 1998 WC final is the highest peak I've seen a player reach. That year at Inter was the main reason I watched Football Italia on C4. Pretty much unstoppable. v2 was still lethal (as Man Utd discovered against Real) but the explosive athleticism, agility and pace had sadly been lost and he had to reinvent himself as a less mobile more limited player. The thing I loved about v1 Ronaldo was how comically direct he was. Get the ball to his feet anywhere on the pitch and he'd turn and sprint directly at goal with a Forest Gump like single-minded simplicity and determination. He was faster, stronger and more agile than every defender plus he could deploy stepovers, and feints seemingly without slowing down. His tricks never seemed like he was showing off, he was more like a robot who had rationally calculated that an elastico was the best way to continue forward progress. That era was full of experienced hard centre backs who had no choice but to try and foul him, and even that was almost impossible at times. Once within range on goal, he was one of the greatest of all time at converting one on ones and he could shoot incredibly accurately with either foot. It was just incredible to watch live, you'd hold your breath every time he got it. Logically his peak was too short to be in consideration for the GOAT, but screw logic, I know what I saw.

It does feel like Ronaldo Classic has been slightly forgotten by the FUT / social media generation considering how unstoppable he was back then

It does feel like Ronaldo Classic has been slightly forgotten by the FUT / social media generation considering how unstoppable he was back then R9 is pretty much the most sought after card in FUT every FIFA. If Ronaldo and Ronaldinho had the drive and regime of Cristiano Ronaldo there's no doubt they'd have been the best players ever, by far. But they just loved actual life too much, which is completely fair.

R9 was an absolute beast. Brilliant player, kind of like Lomu was for rugby.

Glad others share the love.
Ronaldo as football's Lomu is a perfect comparison. Lomu's kidney issues slowed him down prematurely and similar to Ronaldo, sheer talent and ability meant he was still world-class just not quite the unstoppable force he was when truly healthy.
The fact that both were so much better than everyone on the pitch at the peak of the sport, seemed equally absurd.

Everything about that story is so wild, France presumably drop him but Madrid can’t get shot, can they?

If Madrid were going to get rid they would have done so 5 yrs ago when it originally happened. They won't blink at a slap on the wrist, especially now he's their best player.

Messi wins the Balon d'Or. Not sure what Lewandowski has to do to win it.

I think it’s probably right that to win it you need some trophies in that year, and I can see why Messi got it for finally bagging an International one. But some of the people ranked above Kane are mind blowing. For him to not be even in the top ten, or even twenty is ridiculous.
