OK, bit odd. I was playing last night. I play online but I wasn't co'oping with anyone and I was just on my way to go to hemwick when I had a fight with various sods, and saw a snatcher, so thought I might as well go to yar'gul. Did all that, and came back again. Fighting various stuff but nothing out of the ordinary, and then this dropped - bloodborne.wiki.fextralife.com/VerminI don't think I've ever seen that before but how did that drop for me if I wasn't doing anything related to co op? Certain enemies also drop them, even offline... Except those enemies are supposed to be in DLC areas per the wiki, so...

Oh well, weird I guess. This char is coming on leaps and bounds at the moment. Although I got quite cocky with some snatchers and they put me in my place

I’ve carried on played with my lvl 30 character a bit. Nightmare of Mensis has lived up to its name, died so many times
Beat Micolash this morning, which was quite easy and no where near as hard as actually getting there
I need some better gems for my weapons but I think the only place I can get them is chalice dungeons and I’m not sure I can be bothered playing them
Got the blood rock so my Saw Cleaver is +10 now, which is nice

Finished my Demon Souls Remake run the other day and all I can think of now is that it would be *really* great if Sony pulled their finger out and assign Bluepoint to remake Bloodborne; do it please, ffs!

I feel it’s too “new” for a remake though, it still plays like a dream (pardon the pun)

Also Bluepoint sort of fucked up the Demon’s remake so I’d be wary of them doing it again

I’d love a remake but it doesn’t really need it. Just a 60fps patch.

Thing is, if a 60fps patch were to be made, it's long overdue now (it should be released along PS4 Pro), so in my eyes a remake is our best bet...

The collector edition would cost way more than that and come with a real life Saw Blade if Dragon Age is anything to go by. We're just putting weapons in them now

World 3-1 was the breaker for me Can't answer for retro but for me it didn't just look too shiny, the menus felt like they were ripped straight from a mobile game, all charm and grittiness was gone. I had to change the camera and the colour settings just to get close to original look. The player character walked like they had shit themselves. Every hit was impactless and felt like you were swiping at them with a feather duster. Very reminiscent to me of the first Lords Of The Fallen in that sense. I didn't even finish it and it was free, whereas I plat'd the original on a 15 inch SD tube telly from like 6 foot away. That turned more into a rant than intended but yeah the remake really did not hit for me at all. So I'd prefer them not to touch Bloodborne.

Yeah agree with that It just wasn’t right, didn’t capture the magic of the original Like a Chinese fake version you buy of an action figure, close but a poor quality facsimile at the end of the day The atmosphere, the music, the tension - all gone It’s not nostalgia too as I’ve never stopped playing the original, I’ve completed it at least once each year since it came out, my OG character is at max SL

Are we on about the demons remake?
I liked it overall. But it had 2 things that stuck out to me that didn't feel quite right. The desolation feeling had gone, which was a shame, and they changed the music for 5-3, which is unforgivable.

Meanwhile, back in Yharnham, this blood echoes glitch has really sorted me out. Sure, I'm overleveled, but I couldn't give a flying shoe about that because I'm having an absolute ball kicking the shit out of things whereas it's normally the other way round.

Reminds me of a certain unfortunate bird with a fondness for falling off cliffs*... Or, in a much earlier game, a certain troupe of idiots in a forest with similar inclinations, as JonFE can attest! *Not you Quad, far as I know you're still a bloke anyway

It's slowing down now obviously, but it's really helped give me the edge early on. I've been mainly soloing apart from gazza and bsb (thanks retro and danno), and I'm now up to forbidden woods I think. I have a couple of other bits to sort out, but it's remembering where to go half the time now that's slowing me down. I think I'm going to try and befriend djura and then do the woods for the shortcut to the clinic and then get the invite for cainhurst.

Don't forget you get the Rune Workshop Tool at the end of Hemwick Charnel Lane. It's a nice quick run and then you get to equip those Caryll Runes you're (probably) picking up

I’ve found a way of getting high level gems now without doing a million chalice dungeons, well I say “found” but in reality I just trawled YouTube until I eventually found a useful video
Only had to beat the first one and now I can access a dungeon where the first two enemies drop 20% plus physical damage up gems, they are quite hard to beat at level 30 but I’ve got a technique where I wait for them to climb a ladder and then bonk them with the Kirkhammer in hammer mode, 6 or so bonks and dead. Miss a bonk and then I’m dead but the lamp is so close it doesn’t matter
Gems are cursed but it’s things like weapon durability which is largely irrelevant
It really is a game that just keeps on giving, flipping brilliant game

Each to their own but if/when I ever get characters that become op I lose interest. Often happens in ng+ and elden ring especially is pretty easy to get yourself op now that most items and combinations are know about. One of the best things for me in these games is that it’s tense as you know most enemies will ruin your day if you mess up.

My axe needs chunks to upgrade now and I've also noticed I have Ludwigs holy blade in my inventory too. Is that worth spending loads of shards on?

Yeah I get that too, but I haven't played for so long and my time is limited at the moment so I just want to be able to explore as freely as I can. No doubt I'll get to a certain point and then move on with it but it's very handy in my current zone of playing

It's pretty much my MO in the main souls games. I've been replaying Bloodborne - at least until Bleak Faith sunk its fetid claws into me; will return to it soon. I'm at Byrgenwerth and have enjoyed almost every moment of it, including the boss fights which I seem to be better at than I was first time around. I always had some doubts about Bloodborne - I'm more of a defensive / ranged spellcaster in the other games - but those doubts have been dispelled. It truly is brilliant.

When I loaded it up yesterday to help quadfather I noticed that I’d played 300 hours across my various characters… …and I still can’t navigate the levels half as well as I can on Dark Souls, I find them quite complex and intricate and not intuitive at all Even when I look at the names on the gravestone things I’m confused which area is which I was just on the PlayStation app and it says I’ve played Bloodborne over 900 hours, I wonder how that works? My characters don’t add up to that much

I know co-op isn't for everyone, but would anyone be interested in a Chalice Dungeon Explorer's Club?
The Chalice dungeons are pretty tedious solo, but in a group they can actually be quite fun. I've been helping a bunch of randoms get through levels and fight bosses, which is great for farming insight and the occasional gem drops from bosses and it occurred to me that if there's anyone up for it we could take it in turns hosting Chalices and eventually get everyone through Great Pthumeru Ihyll for the trophy, farm some gems and weapons and maybe (just maybe) have some good laughs along the way.
