Obviously. But the cane…..just no. He asked for easiest. It looks cool, it’s the gentleman’s choice but its dps is terrible versus the “easy” options. I true gentleman wears the knights attire with a cane and a cainhurst duelling pistol. Does that mean you make your characters blokes then? People are strange I have maybe six characters, probably 50/50 male and female. My current bow blade/chi lake blood build is a woman, called her queen annalise.

Threaded Cane is the best choice at the start because it's the gentlewoman's weapon and stabbing it into the ground while you're walking around never gets old. Used it all through my first time It's a cane, right, and it turns into a whip you can lash enemies with. Why would you pick a boring old axe Yes, Cane is the correct choice. Anyone that didn't make it their pick as starting weapon on their first play is a wrong'un.

From my maybe ten play throughs I’ve only beaten kos once. Currently on him now and I think I’m going to bin it. I can beat every boss in every from game but I just can’t get kos. Checked out some cheese strays, they look good but when I try it kos doesn’t want to do those moves that make the strat work. I tried the slow method of baiting certain attacks but it takes ages and one wrong move phase 2 and I’m dead.
Pretty much all his attacks phase two almost one shot me, he has multi combos and aoe explosions and shoots off camera. When I was beating the final boss in the elden ring dlc it took ages but I saw a path to the W. Kos is just straight up bs and I really can’t be fucked to try and solo him ever again.

Yeah, I think one of his attacks breaks lock on as he goes flying all over the place. I just keep throwing myself at him until I get a lucky win
Trying to think what you get for beating him. Is it the thing that turns you into a freak?

Is it the thing that turns you into a freak? You get the Kos Parasite, but for max freaky (and synergy) you need the milk weed rune iirc. I think that's from the weird plip-plop side quest finding brain fluid in the experimenthospital

Saw Cleaver & Kirkhammer
Didn’t really need anything else despite trying them all
Parry at all times though, that’s my advice

Nearly didn't make it around that table though DannoDining equipment. My one true nemesis. This might be their best game. I appreciate Sekiro, obviously adore Souls, loved ER. But this is the one that really takes it for me.

It’s definitely a best game ever contender for me. Currently in upper cathedral ward after realising I hadn’t come here in ng+. Drenched in atmosphere and it’s great when you look down on all the various areas you were hours before.

I'm feeling dread just (rather vaguely) recalling it.

Second-favourite game ever for me, after Sekiro - just wonderful.
In terms of weapons, I think I went Threaded Cane --> Ludwig's Holy Blade --> Chikage (right hand), and Pistol --> Ludwig's Rifle --> Evelyn (left hand).

The way the rolling animation changes is hilarious as you flip flop about the place.

Checked all my characters last night and found one at the end of ng rocking the moonlight sword so might run through ng+ with them next. Found and killed Lawrence in ng+ and ng last night and my good in ng+ that health bar was wild in comparison.
Checked out my first ever character. Nothing levelled up except the cleaver saw and that was only +9 so I never found the rock. Very weird distribution of stats as well with way too much stamina.

Fired up that newish build I'd rolled. The stats are a bit weird, but I've done cleric already so I can level. It has the axe too.
Not sure about keeping it or not, but had a go and I was using the pistol loads more which felt better.
Still can't decide on weapons or build.
I'd like to do something that improves the gun and the visceral attacks. What's the best way to go, stats and weapon wise? I want to get it right so I can stick with a character for a change instead of pissing about.

However if you wanted to carry on with the axe that’s strength. Most of the best weapons like Ludwig holy blade and moon light blade are balanced weapons between strength and skill. There’s some lovely blood weapons but most are not found until much later.

Blunderbuss for parrying. I wouldn't worry about doing any kind of damage with a gun unless you're building your character around it, so you want the spread

100000% the pistol is the better choice. It fires faster, does more damage at range, has range. So you can stagger at longer ranges, you can shoot 2 shots before getting hit so if the first shot is too soon the second with stagger them. In that situation you are also likely to take damage but you get that back with the visceral.
The blunder buss is handy when there are several enemies on you but most of the time you just get a quick stun on them and in any situation you should try and avoid being over run.
Pistol is by far the better weapon to trigger staggers in various ways. Just its speed alone makes it the choice. Plus with two brick men you can get two quick staggers in a row.

Only need one shot and being in their face saves my legs for the follow up
I need to get a PS5 so I can invade you with a threaded cane and blunderbuss so we can settle this

Haha I've seen a lot of people posting about skill and bloodtinge too Confused.com The most fun skill blood weapon is the bow blade but that’s late game dlc. So basically a ng+ weapon. The lost Chikage is epic as well but you need the blade first after you meet the queen at cainhurst and then enter the correct dungeon to get the lost version(google has the code).

Going bloodtinge will mean a much more difficult early game won't it? You won't have access to weapons that can use it until later in the game
Back to transformations, the main reason I don't like Maria's sword is because the transformation sound is so weak and tinny. Can't abide it. I think it sounds a lot better when she uses it too

OK. Bloodtinge is out then if it's harder at the start.
I used a threaded cane on my first ever character. It was very good but I noticed it started to wane a bit around the lecture theatre areas (second visit)
However, I am quite a dex whore in general so I don't mind doing a skill run.
I'm sure I'll be fine once I get going - I just want to get it right at the start.
If I could remember where everything is and how long it takes to get stuff, that would probably help but its been too long.

I don’t think I’ve ever used Maria’s swords after a quick try first time. They seem epic for her and did nothing when I used them.
