Did come across this yesterday, in relation to SKL/BTL builds in late endgame etc. From 2016, but fuck me the level of player skill here is impressive: youtu.be/afsfwCi4Bgo

My last build earlier this year was pure Bloodtinge, it was nasty (in a good way). Ended up using the bloodletter almost exclusively, although I was rocking the saif as well as once I'd softcapped BT I pumped into SKL, which is a massively underrated weapon. My boy wanted to kill the Queen so ended up taking that char through all the chalice dungeons with him.
He made me reinstall it the other day actually. Might have to roll (yet) another character. Don't think there's a build I haven't done mind you.

Thinking after this one I may do a heavy SKL/ARC build, with a view to the Burial Blade in NG+.
I am still really partial to a pure quality build with the standard Saw Cleaver, though. Absolutely love the move set.
What's the Reiterpallasch like?

I look forward to another playthrough! My first was STR with hunter’s axe. Boy did I fall in love with that weapon. Only pulled out the saw spear for the wetnurse, as that staggered them more I thiiink?
What the funnest build for a second go? I’d get the dlc I suppose and also I missed out on a whole area it seems.

Scales with Str and (I think) Arcane so you get to mess around with things like the Exe Gloves, Cursed Brew, Blacksky eye etc too.

Pure Arcane is brilliant. You can wreck shit with the hunter's tools and end up turning into a flopsy broccoli man.

Absolutely love the move set. What's the Reiterpallasch like? Far inferior to the fucking outstanding prototype of it, the riflespear. The reach on that weapon is fucking nuts. I've done a playthrough with that as well and it is very underrated.

If you're going pure ARC, what weapon would you use early/mid game, then? I do fancy canning ARC for stuff like Call Beyond, Accursed Brew, Black Sky, Executioner Gloves etc.

Very early game it's tricky but any elemental gems will do the trick. It's a very versatile build. I ended up using a pure fire gemmed whirligig at one point for fighting beasts and it destroyed the shit out of them. Bear in mind any elemental gem will scale with arcane, so you can really mix shit up.
Flamesprayer can be got early on and it's brutal. You may need to get stuck into some chalices for the best fire, bolt and arcane gems though. Once you're at the mid/late game point your options are numerous to say the least.
Saw spear or cleaver are good early on and I think there's a fire gem near the brainsucker below the workshop area but you'll need your weapon up to +6. I just used the saw spear and leveleed it normally early on. If you're not chalice dungeoning your best source of fire gems are the loran silverbeasts in NF and NoM.

Rifle Spear always does the job. Its scaling is shit anyway, so you get it to +3/5 and just spam the ludicrously OP charged R2 until you get the weapon(s) your build needs

Right ... I've cleared up to Ludwig. He's kicking my arse, but I've had a few wines already, so may come back tomorrow The actual Hunter's Nightmare didn't turn out too badly, after all. Just looked really daunting, but the short cuts and second lamp were actually fairly well placed. Bit of a discrepancy between the mob difficulty and the boss, though lol

It doesn't really let up, but there's plenty of variety in the enemies that will keep you on your toes - it ain't all hunters. It's been said in many a Souls thread, but I'm envious that you're getting your first crack at it. And yeah, Ludwig is toooough

Got Ludwig down. Maybe 10-12 attempts? First phase by far the trickier of the two. Good fight, though. Conventional wisdom to do Laurence now or push on into the next area and mop him up later?

Laurance might be a nice break after your 50th attempt at the last boss

Finally got back onto this last night (and a little during lunch this afternoon) after a few days away. Laurence, Living Failures and Maria all down now.
Yeah, you were totally right about Laurence. Easily the most attempts I've had to make on a boss this playthrough; I just could not get his P3 move set down correctly, and even when I did get the kill it was messy af.
Really liked the Research Hall as a change of pace, and that it was mercifully short in comparison to the Hunter's Nightmare. Living Failures were a bit of a let down, effectively got them on my second try (after dying to the meteor shower I totally wasn't expecting the first time). Feel I happened on a bit of a cheese, though. I basically just wailed on the very first caster mob as you enter the fight, happened to strafe round to the left and found exactly where the mob respawned lol So was able just to basically spam him down, use the tree to avoid the one meteor shower, then rinse and repeat.
Lady Maria, though. Absolutely fucking loved it. Great boss, great setting. Very satisfying kill. And I'm now rocking her attire; for aesthetic purposes, you understand.
Just Orphan (Gehrman and Moon Presence) left now. On to the Fishing Hamlet ...

Ah, a safe haven with no enemies and lots of loot to pick up? I'll be sure to have an oblivious sprint through once I've accumulated enough blood echoes.

Lol you utter fucks Enjoyable evening: cleared out the Fishing Hamlet, finished off Harrowed/Brador quest lines, then spent 45 minutes beating my head against those two fucking arseholes down the well. Eventually got it done and claimed my well-earned weapon! Only had time for 4-5 shots at Kos. Got him consistently down to 30-25% (and one 10-5%) so hopefully should mop him up tomorrow. Made a real stupid mistake on my best attempt where I got clipped by the lightning, right when I was super confident I was going to finish him All in all this has been right up there with Oolacile, some of the best DLC I’ve played.

Dont blame us, we didn't like that any more than you did
It's one of those rare DLCs you really feel like you got value from.
Btw, If you're a skill build planning to go NG+, that drop is pretty outstanding
Never feel confident vs. Orphan of Kos. He's genuinely tuned to read your inputs and react accordingly. Read him and react, and punish.
