I was in central London on Saturday afternoon so thought I would pop over to Swatch in Covent Garden just to see. Shop was closed by then but there were still people camped out in deck chairs.
Swatch have repeatedly said it will be available online, and that they are not limited editions, and yet this doesn't seem to be just isolated to London. A quick search on Twitter shows similar scenes in plenty of cities.

That's very handsome indeed. Slightly larger case size than the 30t2 powered inspirations, but still sensible by todays standards.

The size puts me off but it might wear smaller with all the concentric circles on the dial. 35mm is my ideal, especially for a simple sub seconds dress watch

Apparently the ink on the case of the moonswatch comes off on your wrist after a day of wear There isn't much ink on there aside from the battery cover and the "Mission to #####" bit. Not really a deal breaker, but I suppose it's a decent indicator to being mint and unworn or not. Not that I'd call it a feature, seems a bit shit.

I really hope these go online soonish so that the £8k that people are paying on eBay really makes them re-evaluate their notion of value for money.
Also Omega might realise they don't need to make any sort of attempt at quality and fuckwits will pay that much for anything with Omega printed on it.

There’s a lot of reports online of ink coming off, such as

That £40k model that looks like a Hamilton/longines is quite something

If those swatch omegas do stain that’s going to be a problem. I’m the kind of scum who leaves a watch on until he buys a new one.

That £40k model that looks like a Hamilton/longines is quite something Come on, it is only 20x as expensive as the Longines Spirit. For that you get a watch with less water resistance, that you need to get serviced nearly twice as often for four times the price.

That Black Bay is ugly, I detest two tone gold and steel. Reminds me of barrow boy turned banker cunts in Winchester shirts. That 222 is alright, but only because I quite like the 70s aesthetic, but it seems like a step down for VC... I should just come to terms with the fact I don't like watches anymore, get that Mercury Swatch be done with all of it. The new Grand Seiko at the Watches and Wonders show is a bit special though. www.prestigeonline.com/hk/style/watches/grand-seiko-watches-wonders-2022/You need to see it action to get the gist, but it's out there.

Skeletons always feel a a bit tacky IMO. Especially on the wrist, its hard to tell a £50 from a £50k model.

I’m not sure if/when I’ll get another watch, but a stainless Santos is pretty high up the list. I’d love a manual wound Tank at some point, but hard to justify when I’ve got a Solo. The only other watch that really appeals is an Odysseus but they’re a bit big for me. Beyond that it’s ridicule dream watches like an 1815 chrono that I’ll never have the the minerals for

There's no mistaking that for anything remotely cheap. It's actually $350,000. Here it is doing it's thing youtu.be/hZ4A0A7stzE?t=73

I’m probably done now. I have a 5 watch “collection” and bunch more “other random watches I own” (which I intend to sell or give away). I wear all the 5 regularly but I think any more than that is silly and impractical (tbh it’s already silly)

As much as I find sports watches interesting, they’re always too big and I’ve no real use as I don’t wear a watch in the summer. I think I’ll get something when the Apple Watch dies, that’s been my tool watch but I won’t get another, I don’t use any of the features apart from Apple Pay. Maybe that’s when I’ll get my Santos

Here's that Grand Seiko again. It's bonkers, I love it and I'd smash it on a door handle within a week. Thinking about that second mortgage. youtu.be/1OcTV4ZfHsM?t=444
