Had some business to conduct in the west end so popped into Cartier and had a look at the Santos, I think I love it. It’s bigger than anything I wear but doesn’t feel it. Liked it so much I took a shit picture while I consider it. Popped into Lange also to have a look at the Odysseus again, none there as apparently you need to build a relationship to get on the wait list for one lololololol

I've never been a fan of roman numerals, but the Santos is such a fantastic design. A mates wife has a vintage smaller model (I think that was the Dumont) in platinum and it's a ridiculously good looking watch, utterly stunning and pictures don't do it justice.
No idea how well they hold value, bit it's a timeless design and will always ooze class.

They didn’t even clock the screws on the strap. I’m out.

Buy it, such a nice thing. Here's my Zenith. Not the most legible watch in the world but never mind.

That is one lovely looking watch, but I'd be worried about that strap staying white, could start to age quickly and white rubber ages like milk...

I very nearly bought a Zenith El Primero when Hannibal was on and I liked the look of it, ridiculously good price at the time too. Didn't, and now they are not ever on sale.

Damn that's wild. Is that a Defy? Yeah, Defy Classic Ceramic. It's a beaut. Slight issue with the deployment clasp being really quite sharp on the inside but contacted Zenith and they're sending me a new one which has been rounded off. Apparently this is a common complaint.
And yes the strap will probably end up "SNES yellow" over time.

Yeah me too, the classic steel version with the 3 coloured dials was available for high £2Ks low £3Ks about 5 years ago on the preowned market. You are lucky if you can find one below £6K now. Wish I would have picked one up.

I think I had the chance to buy it new for £3kish. Add a couple of thousand to that now.
There's lots of things I didn't buy thinking I was being prudent, that I kick myself a bit about now. A really nice Super Kontiki for a grand. Etc etc.

Good. I'd actually forgotten it was in man sizes. Just thought I'd buzz this in here. Anyone fancy their own atomic watch? Here you go: It's a Bathy's Cesium 133, accurate to 1 second per 1000 years. The first version here even has a moonphase for werewolves and burglars. 6 large to you, no questions asked. They had design refresh, replacing those generous lines with something a little more sleek. Big fan of that dial with those clear Arabics, but I think I'm going to struggle sliding that one under a sleeve personally. Here's the original Kickstarter page complete with a video featuring jaunty Ukulele music to keep it friendly and radiation related pre-natal mutations and cancers close to almost minimum.

Probably will be until the summer at least. They've only just restocked the swatch stores.

So, Swatch have said on their instagram that they're not selling the moonswatch online at all now and it'll only be available in stores.
Who knows, they'll probably change their mind again when the manufacturing pipelines are more sustainable, but for the forseeable there's no chance. Nearest Swatch store to me is in NYC, which is an 8 hour drive, so fuck that.

Does anyone still want one now the novelty has died down? There’s better looking steel chronos from swatch for less money, not that I want any of those either

The Bulova version of the moonwatch is cheaper. And that thing actually went to the moon.

Still got the Santos stuck in my head, just caught between the steel and the two tone steel/gold. I love the bezel that flows into the bracelet, in the steel it looks so well integrated while the gold bezel looks like it’s been cut short when it stops and the steel starts. The gold bezel is such a classic element of the Santos though and those gold screws look sweeter than the plain steel
