If those numbers are anywhere near correct, and Russians find out, that will really turn them against this war.

If those numbers are anywhere near correct, and Russians find out, that will really turn them against this war. Ben Wallace said yesterday that we will never know the true numbers because the Russians setup a significant number of mobile crematorium units.

Maybe we’ve had our expectations completely skewed by US shock & awe warfare but it does seem like this invasion isn’t really going to plan or meeting the timescale Putin anticipated, despite the inevitability of Russian victory.
Feels like they didn’t expect much resistance and genuinely believed that the army or people would turn on their own government and welcome the Russian “liberators”

Feels like they didn’t expect much resistance and genuinely believed that the army or people would turn on their own government and welcome the Russian “liberators” Putin has definitely convinced himself of this. At the same time he's tried to paint Ukraine as true Russians, and expected Russians to like these true Russians being shot at and blown up. That's his real miscalculation in all of this.

The number of tanks they’ve apparently lost is ridiculous so far.

He’s been hugely active through diplomatic channels and social media, and support for him across the world must be through the roof. I think they expected him to flee, but he and his cabinet are basically live streaming from Kyiv. Will Putin make a martyr of him?

To be fair the assumption that a tv actor playing president would run rather than lead a nationwide citizens armed resistance seems like one a lot of people would make

That's Zelensky's calculation. Better to go down as a martyr fighting than flee. It really fucks up Putins narrative.

Need to step up the exposure of Putin and his cabal's vast wealth both squirreled away and on more public show to his own population. If we are not prepared to draw a line somewhere and support Ukraine with a physical presence then we need to undermine the Russian government from within.
All this talk of supplying defensive weapons is fine, but I imagine Russian forces will be trying to encircle as much of Ukraine as possible to cut off a land bridge. Air corridor never going to be safe either.
I'd guess there may be only hours/few days before much of Ukraine is going to be isolated.
To be honest, don't see where this is going yet. Putin seems to have stepped beyond his normal limit - almost demented (in a real medical sense) with his outburst on nazism within Ukraine.

Are there no unaligned mercenary/PMCs the West can pay for to hit dedicated targets and swoop back out again? If the Russians had to start watching their backs as well that would slow them down.
I mean we are already sending loads of weapons etc so a couple of independent groups carrying that weaponry doesn’t seem like a stretch.
Failing that, unveil a Metal Gear on the border.

The number of tanks they’ve apparently lost is ridiculous so far. Classic Russian WW2 tactic of taking more casualties than the opposition and still through being able to pour even more resources in and making it super attritional

That's only sustainable in a defensive situation, though. The Russians aren't fighting for something like the Ukrainians are.

If those numbers are anywhere near correct, and Russians find out, that will really turn them against this war. I wouldn’t be surprised if it already hasn’t. It seems Putin as sent in barely conscripted kids in first. Reports coming out of Russia Is that these kids have literally disappeared of the radar, no family contact all. It’s going to affect thousands of families and I don’t know if you can keep that discontent down. I don’t know if it’s been confirmed yet but allegedly two Russian transport planes went down, that’s got to be 150 people at least? When you combine the two it’s awful thing to read and accept. The longer this drags out the worse it will be for Putin at home.

Between those islanders telling the warship to fuck itself and this lady, if the Ukrainians don't win it won't be due to lacking the balls. For reference the sunflower is the national flower of Ukraine. Lady gives Russian troops a bollocking

That does somewhat explain the relatively sparse use of missiles that we've seen. I was expecting a continuous bombardment but it's very sporadic and almost restrained.

Russians can't really missle spam like the US due to how much they cost. Russians still seem to be dropping paratroopers all over place who are either getting shot to shit or captured on landing. The Ukrainians have also setup a hotline for Russians to contact captured soliders.

You know a lot about air corridors and land bridges do you Er, no - was simply my questioning the talk of supplying arms to Ukraine and begs the question of how, over the coming weeks, if NATO remains out of the country and if Russian forces extend into Western Ukraine and effectively cover off Kyiv, the supply will reach any intended recipients. Would you think Russia would allow any such bridges to remain active?

If russians get to close dont be surprised if poland sets up a buffer zone under the guise of protecting refugees till the city of Lviv. That way they can also get supplies in.
