Yeah, fair enough. The trailers sold it to me as being that, then. Easy enough leap to make given the constrained looking play areas and Arkane not being known for open worlds (and not mentioning it back then)

It was compared to Borderlands as well but not really seeing it other than the characters with abilities. Gameplay looks quite a bit slower and more tactical. Some horror elements as well which is cool

In a piece of good news, I ended up buying that console bundle for the girlfriend from GAME, and the free hat they sent with it was a different one and about 99% less garish than the one in the photo.

Feels cruel to preload the game and have it on the hard drive for three months

Dug out my 360 today. It's painfully slow and I can't remember how anything works. Currently installing Skyrim. Just bought a 360 slim to replace my ageing elite. It's so quiet in comparison.

Is it any faster than the Elite? Every time I get on there to play or buy something, I get frustrated by how slow the menus are to load and receive your inputs. Once you’re in-game it’s fine, but the OS is terrible. Don’t remember it being that slow at the time, and not sure if it’s the countless updates, my console, or just the old bulky 360s prior to the slim models. The 360 S I always thought was an attractive design, but not worth tracking one down if it’s equally sluggish.

It definitely seems to be a bit quicker, it is an utterly horrible OS though and they do seem to have gone out of their way to make accessing content you own as complicated as possible. I'm pretty happy with it so far, they're also pretty cheap these days as well, I paid a little over the odds at £70 because I can't be bothered with bidding, but for that I got a cleaned and refurbished console, wireless controller and a 100 day warranty, but they can be had for £50 or so.

Also, it's a matt console not the horrible scratch magnet.

Weird how MS claims that Game Pass allows them to release some smaller and experimental games, but god forbid the "dedicated" studios like The Coalition or 343 Industries or Turn 10 work on anything that isn't the usual stuff. (and then it fails and they get laid off, while games like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush are much better received)
I suppose that creed is only for their new acquisitions like Obisidian, Compulsion, Double Fine, etc. Sucks for those older devs though.

Question: How fast is the disc drive on the Series X when installing games? Faster than the one on the Xbox One, or about the same?

About the same I'd say.
Remember that you can install any game via the Xbox mobile app, so it's almost irrelevant. Just install it before the game arrives and when you pop the disc in and it'll be ready to play. Most (all?) games have a "ready to play" state after it's installed a bit too, so it's not like you need to sit there twiddling your thumbs if you haven't done the above.

Really wish PS5 did the same. Kind of infuriating that if you own a game on disc, then buy it digitally on sale, you need to uninstall that version and download the whole thing over again.

I need a new controller, mine’s drifting.
Has anyone used custom controllers dot com before? They have official ones for 40 quid which seems the cheapest I can get one anywhere, but I’ve never heard of them and it smacks a little of too-good-to-be-true

Fixed my drift.

I had that exact same thing happen to one of mine. Was wondering at the time why I was crawling in Doom.

Often that's due to dirt and can be fixed.

I had that exact same thing happen to one of mine. Was wondering at the time why I was crawling in Doom. Yeah I've got something like that on one of my controllers. I first noticed it when getting very frustrated with Elden Ring not doing what I wanted. Assumed for a long time I was just shit but turned out the controller had some issues as well! Tried swabbing the base of the stick with some isopropyl but didn't help. Basically the top right quadrant of the stick doesn't seem to go all the way out. You can see it really clearly on gamepad-tester.com/. Guess it's probably time to open it up, not got much to lose!

Is Xemu available for Series X? I haven’t played around with emulation on the console yet, but if that’s the only way to bring back Jet Set Radio Future..

How is this allowed on the console anyways? Surely it's illegal?

You have to put them in dev mode if it's like the others. A series s can run dolphin and all the older Nintendo games but you are better off having a dedicated console for it.
Edit: oh this one doesn't even need Dev mode.

Yeah, I don’t know, but people have been talking about emulators since the consoles launched. You’d think Nintendo at the least would have an issue with it since they’ve cracked down on PC emulation in the past.

stixxuk I’d never seen that site but I just tried it and yeah, same. You can see the direction being registered when pushed, but not to its full extent. Guess I’ll also have a tinker to see if I can get it working properly, but only once the new one’s arrived, I daren’t risk breaking it and being entirely without one for days
