They wont drop Spa. Happy enough for them to drop France though.

France can do one. It’s awful to watch. I would actually like Monaco to be done too. I get the history and glamour with it but the cars have long outgrown it, it’s just a qualifying spectacle now.

Once quali is over so is 99% of the interesting stuff at Monaco. It's not going anywhere because of money reasons.
F1 also thinking about a 30 race season which is ludicrous.

Monaco is shit - an abomination of a "race", there's more thrilling driving in a Tesco car park at Christmas.

Think the quote was taken out of context a bit. He was saying that there is enough interest in formula one to do 30 races. However the concorde agreement in place till 2026? I think it is has it at a 24 race maximum? I can't see how it could go beyond that logistically and I don't think they would. What could happen is we lose more of the "legacy" tracks such as spa for countries that will pay more money. Hopefully that won't happen as liberty expressed a desire to keep the classic tracks blended with the high paying street circuits. That could well change though.

I'm driving in those, not bored to tears watching cars have a procession around a street circuit where you can't overtake while rich people sit in boats and party "watching" the "race".

I can see the cash poor but heritage rich tracks like Spa, Monza, France, Silverstone etc being forced into an alternating deal so 2 of them feature each year then the other 2.
Monaco will never go anywhere despite being a terrible race because the sponsors and money men love it.

The 2022 calendar is actually not too bad in terms of good/bad tracks and more interesting than some pre-pandemic years.
Monaco is a waste of everyone's time. I'd also love to get rid of Paul Ricard, Barcelona and Mexico as they are always fairly dull. Sochi, fortunately, has already been binned off. Melbourne, Singapore, Zandvoort and Jeddah are also pretty questionable in terms of their race-ability. Maybe they'll be brought to life by the new cars, let's see.
I love F1 history (currently going through the 1981 season on F1TV), but I wouldn't keep any track solely on that basis.
Spa, Silverstone and Monza have all produced good races in recent times and earn their place in a sporting sense as well as historically. Equally Turkey, Texas and India have shown that modern circuits can be very good as well. Ironically, circuit design (safety aside) is one area where it would actually be appropriate for Liberty Media to meddle in an attempt to improve 'the show'. I'd like to see the more boring circuits pressured into action as Abu Dhabi and Mebourne were.
Wonder if Spa are just being punished for not suitably appreciating their 'race' last year?

What we need is Special Stage Route X. COME ON.

Just for example, the Formula E 'boost zones' are actually pretty good at spicing things up in a reasonably fair way. That would be a step too far for F1 in my view, but use the same tech and invert it. i.e. slow zones. Special painted sections which automatically trigger a temporary engine power cap.
Place them strategically on the outside of exits and make the power cap very subtle. i.e. just enough to offset any gains and roughly cost them a car length or so by the end of the following straight to make it more likely we have cars going side by side into braking zones. Would mean the penalty for exploiting track limits would be consistent and add to the racing rather than detract from it.

Bring back Estoril.
Largely because I loved it in Sir Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix, the final turn is so good.

Should just make Monaco a time trial really with half points or something, or make it an exhibition race. Its wank.

I have fond memories of Adelaide but of course it helps when you actually went to the races which we did. I was young though.

Can instantly improve Barcelona by getting rid of the chicane in the final sector. Just use the old outside corner that Moto GP use. With the new cars being able to follow closer they could set up some moves down the straight

Kyalami is certainly great fun on AMS2. Not sure if it lends itself to modern F1 but it would certainly be good for F1 to go back to South Africa again. Same time zone as Europe too, which is a bonus.

Really can’t be doing with this helmet cam being shown more frequently. Gives me motion sickness so I have to look away until they change the feed.

Think I spotted Mika Hakkinen in the background of the Sky coverage going into one of the motor homes. Hopefully Sky can nab him for a chat at some point.

Well once they sort out the blind corners they can work on the ballistics Kind of makes a mockery of the places they agree to go racing. Especially with such a firm stance on Russia (yes yes I know not completly comparable)
