Maybe they should just have made a film?

Doesn't even look like the sort of thing I would spend 5 squid on to be honest. The developers may be minnows but they need to raise their game to a higher perch to get their hands on my money.

I still hope they continue the series. They might just have to consider taking a different Angler to their game design to make it more appealing.
Essentially they are down but not Trout.
Be more like Judy Tench and they could have a success on their hands.

Nah, kelp them coming. Eel bet you little urchins have more. On a scale on 1 to 10, I'd give them a score of bait. Some are pretty swell, but cod be wetter.
Water aboat the game though? Currently I have a sinking feeling that it's a bit of a wreak. Sea, a talking swim is fine if you have an interesting story, but a couple of anemones would have probably helped break it up. Wave got to acknowledge that it's all slime over substance but I whaley hope it's not a titanic failure as the art style really flows, I just fish there was more of a game below the surface.

So, I Finnished it. (Pretend I didn't already do that one)
Yeah, I don't know. A lot of my early impressions sort of stuck through. Things do get more interesting, but because the gameplay is nothing but walking around slowly and talking, it can feel like things just crawl to a halt again even after big story moments.
I think what might sum it up is late on, there was an extended period where input is very minimal (even in contrast to the rest of the game) and throughout I was just thinking, bloody hell let me play again. Only, when the game did give me control back I found myself thinking, actually I can't really be bothered with this playing bit.
But I did still finnish it (get it? i'm hilarious) and I don't think it was all bad at all. It has some heartfelt moments, it's occasionally funny and since they just love talking so damn much, you get to know a varied cast and explore the relationships. There are bits I quite liked, but also many bits that were a complete slog. For a game so dialog heavy, it misses the mark a lot and doesn't explore some topics that it touches on with depth.
It could never be a movie, there's just too many lines. It'd have to be a series, and it'd be a series you'd leave on in the background while glancing over occasionally, but never really miss anything.

I gave up on the game but the gf completed it on series s, watched some of the game near the end and there was some nice music on chapter 5 but the game becomes so simple and linear, its could be cutscenes.
If anyone wants to play the game, get a month on gamepass and save some money

I know some have lauded the graphics in this game but... why?! I mean yes the technique to first film and then transfer the animation into the game is very admirable. But the final result of pretty ugly characters, terrible lip syncing then matched with less than great voice work and non existent gameplay... sorry but no thank you /uninstalls from gp

I didn't think the voice acting was bad honestly, though the lip sync is definitely off yeah. The visuals are just very faithful to stop motion, you don't see it a lot in videogames as is and especially not to this scale. I think I read it took around a decade to do it all. You could mistake it for a film easily, even in "gameplay" so I think it's definitely worthy of the praise in at least that regard, even if other aspects could be much batter

I’ve seen clips of it - is it basically a point and click?
Oh sorry, is it a… perch and shrimp?
