I'm not sure what updates people could really get at this point. She's being treated for cancer, I guess we'll find out when we find out.
As for me, yes I feel sorry for this person who has cancer, sorry for their family, and hope that they get better. But I've got no real relationship with her or the royals. I've more of a relationship with (for example) you fine fellows, so I'd feel more strongly if you or your loved ones were suffering from it (I'm really sorry about your mum, barchetta!).
But yeah... I'm not really going to tear my garments worrying about the royals, any more than reading the occasional headline and thinking "ah damn, that sucks". It's about the same reaction I'd have when a random stranger on the street tells me their cousin has cancer. ie. I have a base level of compassion, but it's not going to take up a lot of headspace.
Anyway, they're the royal family, they at least are going to get the highest levels of medical care. So if anyone is going to be fine, I'm sure they will be.

My brother is rather more important to me than any royal and his WhatsApp messages now and again are enough for me as he goes through CAR T-Cell treatment in Oxford for his returned lymphoma (he had it in 2020, went into remission and came back late last year). There's really nothing for the BBC and others to report after the statement, cancer treatment (other than any surgical intervention) isn't exactly a speedy process with things to report on so hopefully the reporting will drop off after the weekend. For anyone who doesn't know WTF CAR T-Cell treatment is Cancer Research has a good write up, it was new to me and pretty incredible stuff that sounds like science fiction, hopefully it'll get cheaper and quicker and give one aspect of cancer a right good fucking once and for all and maybe others too. www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/treatment/immunotherapy/types/CAR-T-cell-therapy

Whizzo Best of luck to your brother, mate. (And to you, and the rest of your family, for that matter - hope you're all doing as well as can be expected.)
