It always looks like a hug/tackle you would do to a friend on a drunken night out.

That's the best explanation you could hope for on that particular draft move

AEW Fight Forever roster video
Crazy to me that Owen and Dusty’s least favorite son are in this.

I didn’t realise Owen was going to be in it! I think the last game I had with him was probably WWF In Your House on PS1. Its a shame they won’t have his King of Harts music to use.
The roster is weird, it feels like it covers every phase of AEW so far rather than capturing one year the way a WWE game does. I suppose it’ll be a consequence of how long its been in development.
I’m holding out for the reviews but its on the wishlist.

Watched Rampage this morning while having breakfast and it was pretty decent, I hope this heel turn tease with Jungle Boy pans out, as he was getting booed v Douki and its obvious the crowd are going to be rooting for Sanada on Sunday.
I actually think he has the mannerisms to make a good heel despite being a bland face, and I think him beating Hook would help Hook move on from being a 2-dimensional wrestler.

Edge has never had a good spear Yeah he just doesn’t have the explosive energy you need to pull it off. Weirdly Christian’s version when he lifted it looked better. And a sub 200lbs like him really shouldn’t be doing spears. It’s such an overused move now, anyway. Up there with the DDT in terms of diminishing returns.

Looks like age has caught up to Tanahashi He's still hugely charasmatic but Swerve had to save the match a couple of times last night. Incidentally, Swerve is fantastic and needs a title run, he elevates everyone he works with. Anywho, expectations for Forbidden Door: Okada v Danielson and Omega v Ospreay will be great, not sure how either will end. The main title matches have obvious winners but still potential to be good matches, fingers crossed Jungle Boy and Sanada produce something great. CM Punk match will be nothing, JAS match last year was an unexpected banger so may be the same again this year, BBC v Elite should be an entertaining clusterfuck. Rest of the matches I'd have to look up to remember them so they'll probably be meh.

Hope he's okay and nothing to do with his concussion history.
And finished rest of Collision, great multi-man tag to end the night with a hot crowd, rest of the show was a mixed bag though. Never thought I'd be interested in what Bullet Club are doing in 2023.

Ospreay v Omega has a good shout of being the best match AEW has done, I might have to withdraw that statement once I've watched Okada v Danielson.
Edit: nope, main event was good but not great, the crowd was exhausted and the match took too long to get out of first gear.
Best matches of the night that I recommend checking out were:
Obviously Omega v Ospreay - brutal and enthralling and probably MOTY
BCC v The Elite - fantastic blend of fighting spirit strong style and quick-fire spots
The 4-way for Orange Cassidy's belt - blend of comedy, strong style and submission wrestling that somehow worked
CM Punk v Kojima - I thought this would be forgettable but it was really well done, CM Punk relished working as a heel

The kick-out at 1 after Ospreay hit Omega's had me jump off the sofa at midnight last night! Shame about Danielson/Okada - it was a good match that could've built to a great one but after Danielson got injured it visibly lost all momentum. Unfortunate too as the ending was shocking in a good way and would've hit even harder if they had another 10-15 minutes to work up to it. I'm sure well get another match from these two - most likely at Wrestle Kingdom with Okada getting his win back. Omega/Ospreay was something else. If they don't have the rubber match at All In i'll be devastated. Should be the main event too.

I feel the same although Ospreay is booked to work RevPro the night before All In against Shingo so that might throw a spanner in the works
I did not know Danielson's arm was actually broken, I thought he was just working an arm injury and makes the abrupt ending make more sense. I have even more respect for him now, although the seizure spot was still stupid and deflated the crowd.

It would be daft if Ospreay isn't high up the card in front of around 70,000 fans in his home country. Love his commitment to the small shows though.

Looks like the AEW game has a 30 person online battle royal element and it sounds amazing.

The AEW game has called the F-5 'Diverticulitis' in the move list.
Pretty fucking dumb and shitty of them.

It's an old PWG reference when Kevin Owens used to do the move and Excalibur called it Deep Sea Diverticulitis.
It's still in bad taste but it's not the game being cruel for the sake of it - more of an ill-thought callback.

Kevin Steen never referred to it as such though, and no one on the roster calls it that now. Kevin called it the F-Cinc, and they could’ve also gone with the TKO, as Marc Mero did before Brock stole his move and his wife. So yeah, I’m going with distasteful and cruel, regardless of when the joke originated. It’s still referring to the same thing.

Small point but KO did call it Deep Sea Diverticulitis in PWG - in ROH it was the F-Cinq.
Agree with the rest of your post though - it's a crap 'joke' that makes whoever's making the game seem like a bunch of 12 year-old edgelords. Hopefully it gets changed.

No commentary? Yikes. Reading the rest of this thread makes me think the wait for a decent arcade-style wrestling game goes on.
Hopefully it comes to GP soon.

If it’s actually reminiscent of No Mercy as they’ve constantly referred, I don’t care. Even if it’s actually more Day of Reckoning (since it’s Yuke’s rather than Aki). I want a fun pick up and play wrestling game. The 2K series and its weird insistence on trying to simulate the pacing and stamina of what’s essentially over the top fake fighting is bit silly to me. Just let me 450 splash onto someone through a table on the outside of the ring, then spam 3 finishers, including my opponent’s. I want a fun wrestling game, man.

Day of Reckoning was awesome! I think that's the last wrestling game I properly enjoyed and sunk some time into.

Yeah DoR was pretty fun for the time.
I would really like a studio to try and do a Raw 2 on Xbox style game.
It had so many cool ideas but just failed to execute most of them.

ACG rated it a “Wait For a Sale,” mostly due to bugs.
Looks fun to me. I’m not really seeing the lack of options that others are claiming. Hit detection looks atrocious though.
