Wait, are Everrise in AEW now?
I loved them in NXT, because it was sort of a throwback to the 90s when non-PPV matches were often megastar vs jobber. They were so funny. I've said it before, but i am going to have start watching AEW's weekly tv.
NXT this week was pretty good though. I'm into the InDex thing - Indie Hartwell has amazing comic timing.

The crowd singing Judas on Dynamite sounded great but if Cult of Personality plays tonight it’ll be something else

It has been very very long time since I've heard a pop that loud at a wrestling show - it was off the charts.
It's so bizzare when you compare the direction of travel for both WWE and AEW at moment. One feels like an actual wrestling product and the other is just floundering around not really knowing where or what it wants to be.
I caught a bit of Smackdown and even after all these years Roman is still pretty awful doing promos with anyone half decent.

Yeah that CM Punk pop was absolutely insane. Great promo too. Meanwhile WWE announce Logan Paul for the next RAW which says it all really.

Crowd signing Jericho entrance and the CM Punk pop were amazing feel good moments after a year of no crowds. Both from AEW shows within 3 days of each. Bryan NYC debut in front of 18k still to come. Punk in ring return at All Out, plus PAC Vs Andrade.
All this plus the AEW, NWA, NJPW, Impact collabs.
Haven't felt like this about wrestling since 2001

Yeah, about that Roman lol.

Roman reigns - CM Punk isn't as over as he thinks he is. Yeah, about that Roman lol. This head of the table stuff is the best Roman has ever been but Punk is just on another level.

Yep that’s probably the biggest reaction we’ve seen since AJ Styles debuting at the Royal Rumble. It would have been even bigger if everyone didn’t know it was going to happen.
It kind of reminds me of TNA’s peak - in a good way - when they started getting the big money names like Angle and Hardy. I just hope it doesn’t go the same way where the guys who helped build the brand up get lost in the shuffle in favour of the ex-WWE talent. Punk calling out Darby helped allay those fears (if he can survive all those abuse allegations…)

Since the start of AEW they've handled older talent really well especially in terms of getting the younger stars over. You could argue about Christian, but he can still go toe to toe against anyone compared with Hardy,Sting and Wight.

They seem a lot better at using the big names to get young guys over than WCW or TNA were.
Hopefully they keep with it. I don’t think we’ll see a return of the instant title shots for any WWE cast off phase that TNA went through. And it feels more strategic in who they’re signing in the first place too. They could easily fill the whole roster with WWE and NXT guys but it feels like they’d rather pick up the right ones than any one.

It could be a game changer. If Punk doesn’t get the hump after a few weeks and throw his hands up.

I think the two risks with Punk are he either walks again or they overexpose him and it undoes some of the good work they’ve done building everyone else

Hearing the Brood music on Smackdown was a nice bit of nostalgia.
Can’t help but think Reigns saying he’ll leave if he loses is a play on a big summer angle Cena was involved in a decade ago when someone was threatening to leave with the title

It looked like Brock turned up while he was out shopping at Walmart and what fuck was that Becky stuff lol.
So I guess we get the Heyman custody battle in Saudi lol.

From the highlights it looks like a solid show and seeing a Mania sized crowd added something extra but WWE feels so stale at the moment. That they’ve had to draft in Cena and Lesnar because no one else on Smackdown is main event level anymore is a real show of how much trouble they’re in creatively.
Although I’ll be honest and say I still thought it wasn’t happening until next weekend.

Viking Brock does look great.
I see people online have quickly turned on Lynch for winning the title.

It was like he raided lost property for Ambrose's old outfits.
Brock's only back for the Saudi money and it's not like we've seen him and Reigns for like the millionth time. They are clearly heading for Rock v Reigns Mania match where Vince can finally jizz all over Reigns being the best champion Eva!.
On Becky, it's partly her fault for agreeing to such a stupid angle. It's like Austin beating Rock in 20 secs lol. They did same stupid angle with Kofi and he's more less buried in WWE.

Yeah I would rather they have Brock vs Bobby.

How they go from Bianca closing Mania to getting beat in two moves is astonishing. Vince and his 'moments'. Even when it happened to Kofi it was understandable as it was Brock. Even Becky's post-match interview was shit. I don't get how they're so bad at all of this.
I might re-subscribe to the Network just so I can cancel it again!

They just stink of being out of touch and complacent. Leaning on the same old draws they have for most of the last decade and nostalgic bookings from 15-20 years ago.
I can sort of see their logic for each individual booking decision but to do them all at once was not good.
The product hasn’t evolved in at least five years and every show feels entirely interchangable with the another.
And its not like they don’t have the talent. Its arguable that they might even still (just) have the stronger roster if they bothered to use its depth instead of feeding a handful of chosen ones.
