Made me a big fan of HBK. Was it his brown chaps he wore for that match?? Anyone who can get Hogan that legit pissed is a good one in my book.

Sounds like WWE are letting Bobby Lashley go when he's contract runs out soon.
48 but still impressive though he does seem to be getting a fair few injuries over the last couple years.

I’m surprised they never really gave him an unstoppable push. It looked that way for a while, but it just kind of fizzled out.
At least he can always say he broke the Master Lock.

I hate that HBK Hogan match. Like I get it but I don’t find it fun to watch at all. Its almost like that Stewart/Corden clip in the other thread where neither come out looking good.
I’m glad Lashley finally got his run at the top but it did feel like that weren’t sure what to do with him next. I assume the doors are always open for him at TNA or even AEW if he wants to keep going.

The wrong guy went over, but Shawn showed he could still be a dick even after finding Jebus. There was a time when Shawn could have wrestled a sofa and gotten four stars out of it. It was an opportunity for him to be Macho Man in a Warrior match but instead he made it into a joke. Thank fuck he didn’t try that shit with Taker. He’d have two wonky eyes and NXT would still be Tough Enough.

Yeah it was incredibly unprofessional from HBK especially considering it was still relatively early in his come back. That said, I did appreciate the fact it was against Hulk specifically. Great pastiche, but not what people paid money to see.

Fun fact Shawn was my favourite wrestler when I watched at home. Occasionally my Dad would try to show an interest and I’d say he was my favourite and he’d usually reply with “What? That fucking poof???”
Good talk, dad. Thank Christ I never mentioned Goldust.

Sounds like your dad was Bret guy. His book is punctuated with little digs and insinuations about Hunter and Shawn like that from what I remember. and he was a better wrestler

Bret was the better 'wrestler' and suited his excellence of execution gimmick - but Shawn was by far the better overall performer in terms of his selling, showmanship and aura of unpredictability. Early HBK with Sherri was fucking GOLD.

Yes the HBK bit was unprofessional but the reasoning sort of makes it right. Hogan had done bad business in regards to so much younger talent by that point by faking injury to get out of having a return match to put them over. If you haven't heard Kurt's story, Vince set up a meeting between the two and spoke to Kurt first and basically told him to scare the shit out of Hogan while Vince told him Kurt was going over by tap out. It worked.

Luckily my dad introduced me into wrestling and we used to watch WWF, then when he decided to cut off SKY we watched Nitro. He always used to say THIS IS A SETUP whenever any run ins happened on Nitro.. and as we all know there was a run in literally every match haha.

Good news. Looks like Flair is gone from AEW.
I was more a Hart fan growing up but looking back now HBK definitely had the better run and more memor matches.

Bret is 100% my guy but I think even if Goldberg hadn’t kicked his brain out he’d never have fit in or adapted to the Ruthless Aggression Era the way Shawn did.
He’d probably have gone to earlyish TNA before getting annoyed at the state of it and delivering slightly half-hearted matches against Jeff Jarrett, Nash and Sting before sulking off into semi-retirement.

Curt Hennig was better than both of them. Just a pity his back was completely fucked after Summerslam 91 (what a match though). His selling also inspired two generations (HBK and Ziggler)

Yeah Mr Perfect just made it effortless. We’ve really lost the art of selling which is ashame. I don’t know why we think the audience wants to see big move after big move. I miss a good simple headlock rest hold for a few minutes before the crowd gets pumped up and it’s reversed into something.
Wrestler goes through table. Gets up a minute later. Does his finisher. Wins.

Really wish WWE would stop going to commercial when someone comes out to confront another. Guess they want to go on a little cliffhange but it's dumb to have them standing around for 2 minutes.
Few reports that Buddy has signed a new deal with AEW. Feel like TNA would be the place to truly appreciate the talent he has. Lee and Blacks contracts reportedly expiring soon. Pre covid Lee was something special.

Tweet deleted bow but Drew posting a pic of him and Perry together with the caption "It's a real photo, cry us a river" shows why he's the biggest shit stirrer going at the moment.

Yeah shame it was deleted as it was pretty funny. Though Perry looked pretty uncomfortable in it.

I'm pretty sure the deletion is part of it as I think they did it with two other things recently (one hinting towards AJ Lee which Drew apologised for to come across as the bigger man, and the other slips my mind), it adds legitimacy to "Punk being pissed and having it removed". Also they don't need to keep tweets up anymore, just pop them up long enough for someone to screenshot and add to Reddit and then you can delete.
Seeing this though, even having Perry get involved, imagine the money AEW could've made if someone with any kind of real authority have stepped in and sorted it at the time. Tony ain't that guy.

Yep. Could have made a lot of money with Punk vs the Elite. From the streams he did it seems like Omega was the only one who saw that and had no issues with Punk since the incident.

Thoughts on Summerslam?
Roman returns? Howdy Vs Gable match? Some judgment day fallout?
I'm hoping there is still another twist to the Dom/Liv/Rhea storyline as they are definitely positioning mami to be a face.

I'm still going with a DX/WM15 type deal with Judgement Day turning on both Priest and Rhea.

I'm going with an out there prediction.
Dom DOESNT betray Rhea and just as she goes to win that's when the rest of JD distract her by taking him out.
Finn, JD (the bobblehead) and Carlito allign with Liv. Rhea and Dom face. Priest not involved due to leaving to rest up after his defense a match earlier. They can push him being conflicted for a few weeks.
People will cheer Dom "if" he changes with Rhea, he got some on Monday there when shouting at Liv. I say take the gamble, if it doesn't work just have him turn later. Test it now as other than a run in to save Rey I can't imagine another scenario that would work for a turn for him.

Could work. Seen a lot of little seeds put on place for it to also be Finn and Liv working together. Maybe they say the plan was to turn Dom but they failed.

Seems too early for Roman to come back, but if they want to push the new Bloodline, then you've got to take down Roman. I suspect the long-term storyline will be The Rock comes back to be head of the new Bloodline, then it's Rock vs Roman at Mania.
