Ripley falling into the furnace with the queen bursting out of her chest at the end of Alien 3 I know a lot of people don't like the film (I do) but it is a great, iconic scene that really stuck with me from my yoof

Alison, you're definitely a re-reg of someone.
Only a veteran would switch it to Alien 3 chat that quickly.

Ah, Alien 3. Feels like the old forum already! Yeah there was a little voice in my head saying I shouldn't bring up Alien 3 but the scene is good regardless of your thoughts on the film. But since you (I) brought it up, the only scene I don't like is the attempted rape one. It's just shittily executed, like an action scene or something

I recall Alien 3 not being that bad, which probably means it's awful

The only thing I can say is that the thought of pretending to be a different person somewhere long term for a clean slate or whatever is weird to me. Just keeping up the pretense would be a chore

I always have "GAS MAN! GAS MAN! IT'S THE GAS MAN!" screaming in my head for at least the first half of the film.

The swimming in the ocean scene with the brothers toward the end of Gattaca always gets me.

See, I really like Gattaca, but that's another film some people think poorly about.
In terms of great scenes, it's a bit cliché, but Roy Batty's time to die monalogue. Amazing!

I don’t believe it’s possible to tire of the you want the truth scene in A Few Good Men. It was our staple go to scene at Uni and one I can always go back to. So there is that, then there is the ‘This is This’ scene in The Deerhunter, then probably Joe Pesci you think I am a funny guy in Goodfellas.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly, everything from when they find the graveyard. I'm just going to count that as one scene.

The "Sicilians" scene in True Romance. Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper both give fantastic performances in that scene.

"I don't tip"A bunch of gangsters not doing gangster things, just chatting shit while getting a coffee - but it establishes their personalities so well. And not a naked foot in sight.

Talking about gangster scenes, the "How am I funny?" scene in Goodfellas.

Life of Brian Biggus Dickus scene. So good, especially when the guards start corpsing.

The (deleted, altho it's in the director's cut) Nixon/Helms scene in Oliver Stone's Nixon. youtu.be/JWRVyaKnGcAEverything that's great about Olly Stone is contained in that scene. Nixon is massively underrated, I think it's his best film.

Out of context this scene might lose something, but the fact that Munny has spent the entire film abstaining from drinking, when he starts take swigs it's like he's crossing the Rubicon, committing to violence. Even his voice changes subtly, a tad more gravelly, more akin to the roles that made Clint famous.

The dinner scene in Jaws. Begins with the little boy aping Chief Brody. "Give us a kiss." "Why?" "Because I need it. New get outta here." Then Hooper arrives, and they have a nice, natural-sounding chat about his love of sharks, which also serves to give us some great exposition about THIS shark. Brody spends the time picking the label off a bottle of wine. He pours a HUGE glass and tiny glasses for the others. His wife makes some comment about him having a fear of the water - "What's that called?" "Drowning." - and then Hooper convinces him to cut open the shark they caught because it's not the one that killed the bathers. "Can you do that?" "I can do anything I want, I'm the chief of police."
It's probably my favourite scene in cinema.

I found those steps Renton runs down at the start of Trainspotting just the other day. It’s changed quite a bit round there but those steps look exactly the same
