I'll get mine done today at some point. Looks like it's just me and you now though. I've been trying to find another group to join but struggling to find anything without tuning.

I just get frustrated playing it so dropped off until it runs smooth at V-sync at least.

Straight in at the deep end. Chile is such a technical course. Really enjoy though, love the downhill sections.

That’s fair enough- the tearing is genuinely the worst I’ve ever seen at times.

Yeah it's ridiculous. Hopefully they can get it sorted because for me they've absolutely nailed everything else. Still can't stop playing it.
If they can sort the performance issues I think the switch to unreal will probably be worth it in the end. I read an interview from one of the devs saying they can put out a track with hundreds of hours less manpower than they could with the old engine. And it really makes a difference having so many more miles of track than DR2, I've played fucking hours of it and still haven't really learned any of the courses yet.

Agreed-the length of some of the stages coupled with the variety is excellent- going from the top of a mountain, all the way down and then through a little town and back up somewhere else, brilliant. The community manager commented on resetera about development costs and being able to buy plug in type things for physics rather than spending time developing them- basically, exactly that- cost cutting. Which makes me suspicious as it’s EA- I don’t trust that they didn’t just want a cheap way of knocking out a reskin year after year with a cheap and common engine.
But definite pluses to set against the engine issues.

Had to bail on that event in Chile. The little monster came home before I could reach the finish line and the engine was shot.
Does it save progress mid rally or is that once you start that's it you are in it for the duration of the entire event?
Need to also sort my wheel settings. 900 rotation is far to wide for hairpin turns ect.

You can quit out either at the end of a run or in the service area and it'll save your progress. Just make sure you don't quit once a run has started, even if you haven't started the countdown as it'll forfeit that stage.

And I just have soft lock on for wheel rotation. Took a bit of getting used as I used to drop it down to 540 on DR3 but I love it now. Just need a bit of scandi flick to get round the hairpins.

But definite pluses to set against the engine issues. I think rally games are still fairly niche and it's probably a pretty small team working on it so if it allows them to get more tracks out I think it'll be a good thing. If they keep stuff to the quality of the Central European Rally coming out I'll be more than happy. That's on the proviso that they can sort the performance out which seems a pretty big if at the moment. Although people seem to forget that DR2 probably had more problems than this when it released and they got there in the end.

EA as custodians gets my paranoia going, but, totally- a niche game, even within it own genre.
Two patches now that mentioned improving performance and delivered… worse performance. I don’t have a lot of faith left. The patch we’ve waited a month for that’s coming soon is apparently only going to sort the career issue and the AI pace, which is fucking wank. Can’t stay away though.

It's weird, the performance was largely ok on PS5 after the first patch. Dunno what the fuck they've done to it in the past patch. Not really even convinced the tearing is down to the performance struggling, its even tearing on the menus at the start.

Just bought this. A new copy from Game (of all places) for £21. I was quite surprised, especially as next to it on the shelf was a second hand copy for about £33....
For the ps5 version I'm pretty underwhelmed by the visuals. Also a message on the menu screens telling me not to bother with career mode until they have fixed it was amusing. I have only done a couple of stages and handling seems fun even if I'm terrible and have zero ability. I used to be be pretty shit hot at the Colin Mcrea games. The Australian stages are burnt into my memory.
I'm not unhappy just a bit underwhelmed.

The screen tearing is terrible. For a game with mid visuals it's pretty bad. I concur Decks, I'm also ps5

Can't remember ever seeing screen tearing on a PS5 game as bad as this.

Have to say that I'd be playing too were it not for the performance issues. Hopefully they'll sort them.

If I remember you’ll be fine starting a new career MysteryLamb, it was just crashing for people in the middle of current ones.

That last track was brutal, first time I've done the full 35km on Chile. Great sense of place, really feels like you're coming down the side of a mountain. Also I really like the graphics tbh. I like that they've went for a more realistic look than the gamey looking ego engine games. If they could just sort the stupid fucking tearing out. It's inexplicable that it's this bad given the previous patch had mostly sorted it.

And also unfeasible that it wasn’t seen before releasing the last bloody patch IT ALL OVER THE SODDING SCREEN, but, hey release it anyway. I particularly liked the screen tearing I got on the epilepsy warning dialogue bit, nice touch 👌

I've got some wheel settings dialed in now and much happier with the overall feel. Thanks for the tip on soft lock.
I've started in the junior class and stuck it on short to get the hang of things. If I enter in say group B championship does that mean that eventually it'll clash with the main championship I'm meant to race in?

Yeah the events can clash. Doubt you'll be able to afford a Group B straight away though. Just try to do the events that your benefactor wants you to do as well as the main one.
Also I don't like to toot my own horn (though I would if I was flexible enough) but check out that sexual hairpin at the 4 minute mark.

As if the glitch with the A.I in career was bad enough another one is the benefactor progression doesn't work for the additional championships you can enter (FWD H2)
It's been mentioned on the official forum so I'm sure they are aware of it. Patch due mid January? I hope it fixes these and the performance.

They aren’t touching the performance with the next one, according to the community manager on resetera, which has pissed me off to be honest. It’s just the career bug and AI pace.

Don't think I'll ever get bored driving the 2011 Mini around Central Europe. I did have a small incident on the first track though. Cars absolutely fucked.

I think I’ll bin the FontGeekers club off Decks, sorry- it’s only me and you now and I’m hardly proving to be competition. I’m trying to gather together 4 or 5 good clubs with plenty of players only- the menu is such a faff to navigate I need to thin the thing out.
