I'm torn. Good on him, because morrissey has become such a twat, but by god I would have loved to have seen that. Even hearing Johnny bash out a few Smiths songs is one of my all time gig highlights, but I may have exploded with a full reunion. But as you say, good on him.

There is an irony to people disliking Morrisey today. Because look at the lyrics for The Smiths.

What’s the issue with their lyrics?
I’ve never been a massive fan apart from a handful of the most obvious songs. Never heard of any lyrics being anywhere near as much of an issue as Morrissey’s views.

Watching Kaiser Chiefs fail to shoot their last load on a Yorkshire Tea advert was mildly amusing. Cunts.

Never heard of any lyrics being anywhere near as much of an issue as Morrissey’s views. I’m talking from a perspective of at that specific time. Such as Reel Around The Fountain being about two gay men with a large age gap. Something that isn’t shocking today, perhaps was shocking back then. Our ideologies change. This isn’t talking about Morrissey being a racist, he’s always been very passionate about talking about veganism, gay, incel etc. Also look at some of his older interviews. He hasn’t suddenly being some racist. He’s always held controversial views. They also got into some stick for Suffer Little Children, where they named some of the Moor murder victims, which pulled the single from stores. Morrissey then went onto apologise one of the mothers of the victims.

I couldn't listen to Suffer Little Children, even back in the day. Always seemed unnecessary.

I always liked 'Suffer Little Children' - it may have been a contentious topic about which to write a song, but it never felt like cheap exploitation to me. Moreover, the lyrics were so unambiguously anti-Hindley and Brady that Morrissey didn't seem to be glorifying them and their heinous crimes to any extent whatsoever; in that sense, it stands in stark contrast to 'Angel of Death' by Slayer, another controversial song that treated its subject matter with more ambiguity than was necessary.
I'm not sure I agree that Morrissey's willingness to tackle uncomfortable topics in his lyrics for The Smiths automatically presaged his descent into being a right-wing shithead. I don't know whether working with Marr tempered some of his tendencies in that regard, but for me it wasn't until he went solo that Morrissey went off the deep end and started writing shit like 'National Front Disco' (with its upbeat refrain, "England for the English").

Transcript, based on my limited lip reading skills:
Farrel: "Yeeeaaahhh! Fuck you! Fuck you! What'd you do to your face, Dave? You used to look basically human, all the fillers and injections have made you look like a shapeshifting alien cat! Aaauuuugh, fuck you!"

The sound mix at any one part of the staging is not the guitarists fault tho is it?

Shapeshifting alien cat is pretty apt for Navarro. I wonder how long Perry has had that in his locker ready to go.

It's a cracking statement. Weird why Morrissey would lie/allow lies to propagate given this is all provable and readily available.

I like Tim Booth’s (James) comment a while ago.
“James had friends and supporters in The Smiths. “They were sweethearts. Morrissey called us the best band in the world at the time and gave us a big boost”. What does he make of what Morrissey has become? “I don’t speak ill of the dead,” he says, smiling.”

who asked "what were the skies like when you were young?"
it's no great rollercoaster story or anything - just a simple question answered - interesting purely because of the millions of times i've played that tune or something which samples it
