First trip was to the local cinema to see For Your Eyes Only, with my Gran who bought me a box of Fruit Gums. They were a lot harder and gooier back than (Fruit Gums, not grannies), and it was also the day I lost my first tooth. My grandpa used to take me to the cinema and always insisted on me getting a box of Fruit Gums instead of my preferred Pastillls, because they last longer (mostly because they’re nowhere near as nice). Those cinema boxes were special though. I loved how the gums/pastilles themselves were fruit shaped in the boxes as opposed to the lozenges you got in the tube. Totally unnecessary but I appreciated the attention to detail. The yellow boxes were a treat, I'm sure memory is playing tricks on me, but they seemed like they lasted forever, like they were 5 tube/rolls in one. And yeah, them being in the shapes made them extra special. |

Rocketeer with my cousins at the age of 9 in a Cinema on the other end of London. I remember loving it.
Oddly I now live within 5 mins walk of that Cinema that is still open.

I saw a 40th anniversary of Jaws and it was...not a packed house. I would say there is no desire for it at all, really. That's because Jaws is cheesy. |

My town had three cinemas when I was a kid, one is now a nightclub, one a bingo hall and the Odeon is now a Nepalese banqueting hall (Rushmoor has a large Nepalese population) after being a happy clappy church for years. Cineworld opened a 7 screen cinema just before Skyfall opened, which was good timing. |

Cineworld opened a 7 screen cinema just before Skyfall opened, which was good timing. Interesting. Brum still has a lot of its older cinemas but. A few have closed down and just moved location. The Odeon on New Street in the city centre has been there since my mum was a teenager, I think she even saw David Bowie in the Ziggy Stardust era there. |

We have a Cineworld and a 3 screen independent who charges £3 a ticket. It's not as comfortable but can't knock £3. If Cineworld go under, they'll be quids in.

Based on the release dates and what I remember, and assuming no re-releases, either Santa Claus the Movie or the Black Cauldron. With some chance it was either GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords or Transformers the Movie.
Not a lot of quality on that list!

I went to the odeon on new street a couple of times when I lived in brum. One time a guy started smoking what looked like a crack pipe and another time a couple started basically fucking in the back row. Ive never been able to watch Jet Li's 'The One' since.

Possibly the strangest thing I've seen anyone consuming in a cinema was an XL Dominos pizza, the cinema in East Grinstead is right above a Dominos so a group of teenage blokes hid one in a backpack and flipped it open once they'd got to their seats.
It did make me feel a bit peckish.

When I went to the last of the original Bourne trilogy films, I saw a couple getting out their Subway. Not that unusual... except for the bottle of wine they opened up to accompany it.

If this was the case, I would happily die in diabetic coma. We haven’t had a cinema in the town where I live for years. There are plenty locally though, so get on the bus, do some shopping, grab a nice meal then a film is a nice day out. |

Bring back ushers. I think cinemas should be a silent experience and if it's shite, you just leave. It's why I rarely go now as I just end up telling people to shut the fuck up.

I can imagine you doing that during the ads before the film. I found I started enjoying cinema trips more when I picked seats closer to the screen, and didn’t have to worry about silhouettes of bobbing heads, mid-film toilet trips or the glow of everyone’s phones. |

I'm probably a niche market, but I'd love the chance to take my kids to see classic family movies on the big screen. Jaws, not so much, but Jurassic Park, Indy, Back the the Future, etc.. What can I say... we were young.
The old Odeon in my hometown still seems to be there.
I'm sure there was an old Odeon with an absolutely massive screen and a huge orchestra pit in Coventry, but I can't find it so I assume that's closed  |

If so, it looks like it's become a Coventry Uni building now.
The outside looks too tiny, but I remember it being way bigger than you expected on the inside. The seats were uncomfy, it was pretty old and scruffy, but it had a really great old-school cinema atmpsphere. It that's the one.
Uni had an amazing cinema club that meant I could watch movies for free 7 nights a week if I wanted, so I didn't actually go there all that often. I think I watched Gladiator there.
