Maybe I'm speaking out of term but shouldn't there be rules first?
Some ban worthy infringements are rather obvious, e.g. racism, spamming, trying to disrupt the site or the community. But otherwise there are so many grey areas.
Without rules whoever lets the banhammer come crashing down risks causing more disarray than order, no?

Which is probably a good reason for us to try to be a bit nicer to each other and for whichever mods do emerge from Thunderdome to be as sparing as possible with the banhammer.

Don't be a cunt. That's the rule. Actually it's not as much the users I'm concerned about but more the mods. Considering your own - admittedly quite fringe case and petty - encounter with the ban hammer I'd assume you'd understand. I still think it's particularly pathetic how they wanted to make what... that dude did seem acceptable somehow back there.
Anyhow, bygones, but I'd rather not see a repeat of that in our free people's Valhalla here.
