In Eternals there's a big conversation about Thanos and why they didn't get involved, and then later there's a jokey exchange about Ikaris leading the Avengers now Iron Man and Cap are out of the picture. Subsequent films haven't mentioned the events of Eternals, though, despite other films/shows cross-referencing each other - there's a brief reference to No Way Home in Multiverse of Madness and Spidey and Hawkeye both appear to take place over the same Christmas.

Also Kingo says he knew Thor and Gilgamesh mentions fighting the frost giants with Odin.
Fight Laufey and the Frost giants? Sure! What about an Alien who is going to wipe out half the universe? We can’t interfere!!

I saw MoM at weekend and enjoyed it. Not absolute top tier, but certainly one of the better post Endgame outputs. To those put off a little bit by those saying you need to watch WandaVision, I think that requirement is being exaggerated a bit. All really need to know is Wanda takes over a town and has imaginary children with Vision. Series ends with her releasing the town and letting go of the children. She obtains an evil dark magic book There are a few other references, but that is about it. It really is just the she had children that might come across as confusing if you didn't know it. As with most Marvel films, it mostly works fine as a standalone, albeit slightly less so than previous ones. I had some trouble with not having any memory of Strange 1 though.

It's a film for kids so it's not going to take too much brain power away from shovelling popcorn to connect the dots. However the events are directly linked and a large driving force behind the so-called main villain. The WandaVision recommendations are to get a little more substance out of the film, as it doesn't do a very good job of it by itself.

This film really didn't feel a film for kids at times I must say.

Yeah if I were to describe the target audience it'd be people in their 30s with a deep affection for The Evil Dead.
As such me and my brother enjoyed it plenty. He's not seen Wandavision, but filling in the gaps was trivial.

It's ANHPI heritage month and I have a work celebration meeting tomorrow night. Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) is a guest speaker.

I think if the last time you saw Wanda was Endgame you might have difficulty understanding her arc in this movie. Plus the fact that she had imaginary kids is in itself a rather big character/plot development that happens "offscreen", so to speak. However all this can be kind of handwaved away if you're not too bothered. I suppose it's like picking up a Doctor Strange comic with Wanda guest-starring, and just having to shrug past development that occurred in an issue you didn't read. Maybe Marvel needs to think of a visual way of including astrixes and "This happened in WandaVision #6 - Continuity Kev" editorial boxes?

This sounds more and more like "wait for it on Disney in a couple of months"

Hmmm, I did kind of forget most of that happening, however there is very little universe specific detail there really and I can easily see it being handwaved away as the events on earth 101 (random number I just came up with). To be honest this whole multiverse stuff, while a conduit to easily introduce more new characters it's also just a way for them to do whatever they want now isn't it?

I’m pretty sure Eternals took place in the Agents Of SHIELD one-way-mirror Universe, where characters can often see events in the MCU, but the MCU doesn’t see them.

There absolutely no indication that Eternals is anywhere but in the same universe as the rest of the MCU. Why they didn't help with Thanos or get blipped is explained and two future characters that will be in the MCU are teased in the post-credits scene with Black Knight and Blade

And the other character in the credit sequence. Eros. I assume they didn't just cast Harry Styles for a 2 second shot

They can’t even do a Poochie since Harry Styles is canon now

Which it's not as I doubt Feige and Disney are doing multiverse stuff for much reason other than folding in IP they now have the rights to after buying Fox.

I'm really looking forward to the way the multiverse will explain how Agatha Harkness and Kathryn Hahn's character in Parks And Rec are actually different iterations of the same person.

Doctor Strange 2 was much more of a sequel to WandaVision than I expected. I guess you could pick up what was going on pretty quickly if you hadn't seen WandaVision, so it wouldn't matter too much, but you'd probably get more emotional weight from the Wanda parts if you've seen WandaVision. I'm still not sure I'd willingly subject anyone to the first 3 episodes of WandaVision, but I guess you could watch them at 1.5x speed or something. Nothing in the first 2 episodes really matters much anyway iirc. It picks up and becomes an easier watch from about episode 4. PS/ I am happy that between Dr Strange and Ms Marvel, we're a few more steps towards a live action Marvel Rising team up. Now if we can just get the Spider Gwen movie and also Squirrel Girl we'll be most of the way there.

I don't know if I want Spider-Gwen or Miles more. Why not both? We'd have singular heroes, we've had teams. Why not a series featuring a duo?

Did anyone else find that the entire Il_____i bit in the middle fell a bit flat? BIG SPOILERS: On paper, I love the idea of those alternate characters, and I like almost all of the actors involved, and I thought it was kinda cool they even bothered to get Anson Mount to play Black Bolt, given that no-one watched EternalsInhumans. But it all felt a bit crowbarred in, and it didn't really make a huge amount of sense. Haley Atwell has always been a fave, so seeing her in that role should have been super exciting, but tbh the best bit was what they did with her at the end. Likewise, I liked Monica R in Captain Marvel, but not so much here... plus that really shouldn't have been enough to take her out. I think one problem was that they introduced too many of them, and all at once, so it was a bit of an overload and didn't really matter. Plus they were all introduced in a situation where they were clearly *wrong* from the audience's point of view, which is hardly endearing. It also seemed a really weird choice to introduce F4 into the MCU like that. I have no idea if that's the actor they plan to use as the 'real' character, but to have him be both wrong *and* easily defeated was a bit weird. A bit like when the WWE brings in some new wrestler and immediately kills their momentum by having them get flattened in their first match. Things definitely picked up again once they got past those guys.

Just back from MoM - some really neat Raimi touches and when he's allowed to go full tilt it's excellent. Really enjoyed my time with it, however if you miss it on the big screen I'm sure you'll have just as much fun when it's on D+

It's not the greatest that's for sure, looks like someone overdoing a filter. Could be stuff that's early but you'd think they'd want the first trailer to be looking good. Although after Sonic's first one...

I'm up for that. Looks great fun, in a Hawkeye kinda way.
Tatiana Maslany was awesome in Orphan Black, plus more Ruffalo-hulk is always great. I'll even settle for more Tim Roth, as I thought Incredible Hulk wasn't as bad as people say, and he can be a pretty good crazy bad guy.

My god that looks bad! Wonder if this will follow the usual pattern of weekly viewers thinking it's not too bad, then a few weeks later everybody else piling on.
