Why is everyone saying embiggening? Because it's less cultural appropriation-y than saying "Inuk chuk" for when you want to become 50 feet tall. APACHE CHIEF!!!

So there was a key line in Doctor Strange 2 that I missed, mind must have… Wanda-rd… but if anyone remembers what it was: that Mummy Wanda says to Scarlet Wanda in her living room near the end, which somehow causes her to shrug off The Darkhold’s influence?

Why is everyone saying embiggening? I sadly imagine that the TV show probably doesn't have the budget to do proper Ms Marvel style embiggening. It was a bit naff in Fantastic Four, but I'm pretty sure the cgi is beyond good enough to do it properly now.. but it might take a lot of work and a big budget. It's a shame, because it looks great in the comics, and it'd look amazing on screen if they got it right. The green lanterny powers look a bit naff tbh... hopefully they'll be more interesting than they appear.

I imagine they don't do it because the they want all three Marvels to have similar powers and Kamala's powers are from the Terrigen mists which aren't a thing a in the MCU. These MCU shows also get very big budgets so I imagine they easier could put embiggening powers but sometimes what works in comic book form doesn't always translate so well in real life.

Wasn’t Agents of Shield and, more importantly, the Inhumans, both MCU shows that featured the Terrigen mists? Might have been crystals in AoS.

Can't be canon if nobody bothered watching past the first episode... (Inhumans)

As far as I know the AoS show seems to have little to no bearing on the MCU as a whole. The Inhumans show though do appear to be a thing in the MCU though...

Yeah, Marvel have stated that AoS isn't MCU canon.

They did but not sure why its not like it really impacts any major events. I suspect its more because its so budget compared to the cinema production values they’ve set with Disney+ and they’re trying to sweep it under the carpet.

I would imagine that either/and/or:
A) They did an effects test and her powers looked absolutely ridiculous on screen B) They were too expensive to do properly C) Sans terrigen mist, they look too much like Reed Richards

Marvels TV company made it before it and the film side was rolled into a single entity.

I watched it until they shaved medusas head to save some money on the effects budget and turned it off.

Wasn't AoS originally intended to be part of the MCU? I don't think it had anything that transferred from it into the films, but Captain America: The Winter Soldier had massive impact (and made it watchable). I'm sure there were references to other film events as well.

Yeah, this films did impact the show. But I believe Feige has stated that it was made by AMC and he basically had no creative control. As a result, it's not what he would have wanted for the show to tie in to the movies and so it's not considered canon to the universe.

Agents of Shield was certainly originally going to be MCU canon as there are some crossovers and the show itself only really takes off once Winter Soldier makes SHIELD a banned organisation. It goes its own way in all sorts of directions after a while though and I rather miss it, it's not perfect but it's a lot of fun. It's not quite a magical place, unlike Tahiti. Inhumans was terrible though, no redeeming features at all, I hate watched the entire season wishing everyone would just die, very light Doctor Strange had to wait a long time for one of them

I heard Capt Pike was ok as Black Bolt (?), though as his whole thing was that he couldn't talk, that probably didn't contribute that much.
Or was it Corporal Pike?

Agents of Shield was certainly originally going to be MCU canon as there are some crossovers and the show itself only really takes off once Winter Soldier makes SHIELD a banned organisation. It also had involvement from Joss Whedon who directed the first episode, as well as being showrun by brother Jed and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen. The original idea was certainly intended to be a softer version of what they are doing now with Disney+ shows. At the time, Whedon was very much Mr. MCU, probably more so than Feige in the eyes of many (even if not in reality), so must people were watching it assuming it to be canon. Should probably actually watch AoS at some point. Saw the first 2 or 3 seasons and quite enjoyed it. Not sure why I didn't watch the rest.

Once AoS untied itself from the cinematic films the quality drastically increased. I enjoyed it far more than anything Netflix/Disney+ has served up.

I really liked AoS too, although it was very hit and miss. And yes, whilst it definitely started out supposedly as canon, it became increasingly less so. This was a good thing, though, as the first season wound itself in knots trying to get everything to fit into the framework of the movies (eg one of the early episodes is them cleaning up Greenwich after the events of Thor 2). But the fact that nobody from the film division was telling them what stories were coming up obviously made it hard to write around.
By the time it ended, they'd introduced concepts such as time travel, the Inhumans, and really just the general global perception of SHIELD as an organisation, that it became impossible to reconcile with the films. So it's very clearly its own thing, but I was really fond of the characters (especially Daisy and May) so it'd be great now that the multiverse is spitting things out all over the place if we could find a new home for them.
I think the big question mark at the moment is: are the Netflix shows REALLY in canon? Obviously some of the characters are cropping up, but are we to believe that all of the events of the "Defenders saga" took place in the mainline MCU?

I don’t care what they might ever announce, there’s no way bombproof G-Rated cartoon Kingpin from Hawkeye is the same guy from Daredevil.

They’re meant to be canon but the Kingpin in Hawkeye was almost more like the one from the Spiderman cartoon than Daredevil.

About including Shang Chi; the MCU overall is feeling a bit disconnected right now. I know not every film can have 100 avengers in it, but: no mention of the emergence of Tiamat? At all? Not even a one-liner? Or Arishem appearing in the sky? I went into this wondering if there was going to finally be some mention of it but nope. Now maybe I blanked a lot of eternals out but was there anything in it that ties it to the current universe? I don't think there is so I'm guessing that none of it actually happened in this universe (616?) at all
