Talking of nudity in films: it seems that back in the day (he'll even as recent as early 00's) pretty much every film had at least one person taking their clothes off. I can't remember the last film I saw with any nuidty in it. Where did all the naughty stuff go?
Weirdly, telly seems to have got way more explicit at the same time.

I think people looked for nudity and fetishes elsewhere like wanking over character in Resident Evil.

I guess now that everyone has a magic rectangle in their pocket which can instantly bring up the most depraved porn known to man or beast, a 4 millisecond flash of Sharon Stone's cooter doesn't have the same allure anymore.

That's why authors don't usually bother to write porny sex scenes in their novels anymore either. Porn is too easily accessible and mainstream, people aren't that desperate anymore for a cheap thrill, it's not a selling point.

Man. I was gonna go see Strange 2 today, but everything apart from the late showings are sold out, and I'm not spending $20+ concessions for a nap in a cold room.
I've never felt more old btw.

Forgot just how brilliant that sequence was! Black Widow was bloody awful; Pugh just annoys the shit out of me in it. Hawkeye…not so much.

Recently re-watched the Rami trilogy. I remembered that scene, but completely forgot this jump scare in 1, which is probably even more like classic horror Rami. Also all the scenes with Dafoe hearing the goblin in his big empty house.

Yeah, that Dc Oc scene is pretty Raimi now you mention it. Especially the fingernails while being dragged into darkness. That one was a bit intense for my youngest, but they just about made it through, and the rest of the film was more tame. No blood though, unlike the final Spidey1 fight which is pretty brutal by MCU standards. While things were more relaxed back then, i definitely *hadn't* seen Robocop by the time I was 7!! I think it was an 18, and my mum surprised me by letting me rent it for my 15th birthday. Which I thought was pretty early. I was never allowed to watch the final face melting scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark, either. When I was 7/8 I was watching things like Dark Crystal or Neverending Story or Goonies, which had some elements that were pretty scary at that age, but I sure wasn't watching Aliens or Commando! T2 came out when I was 15 and I saw that in the cinema, but I'm pretty sure I hadn't seen T1 yet. I think I'm more sensitive than some here about things for my kids. For the 7 year old, in terms of MCU, they've only seen Homecoming and Captain Marvel, which were mostly ok. But a few intense moments. They've also seen Star Wars 1,4-6 where the Empire Hand Cut caused deep trauma Unfortunately, the early MCU ones tend to be the slightly older skewed ones like Iron Man 1, so we haven't really started on those yet.

You're all old. When I was about 9 or 10, my dad INSISTED I watch the opening Normandy scene of Saving Private Ryan "to learn about war".
I thought it was brilliant.

I was allowed to watch nearly anything as a kid but for some reason Platoon was the one my mother said no about.

My dad was my enabler when I was a kid so I watched all kinds of shit with him, I'm pretty sure I watched Maniac Cop when I was around 7. Obviously now that would be classed as child abuse.

I reckon between 9-11 was prime time for me and my friends discovering Robocop, Terminator 2, Predator, Alien 3, Die Hard and probably not much older for Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.
In our defence most of them had toy lines and video games aimed directly at our age group. And they are all excellent films.

Doctor Strange 2 was amazing. Absolutely held up to the batshit insanity of the first film. I have no idea how one even conceptualises some of those scenes.
One of the things I was extremely pleased with is that I managed to enter the film pretty much spoiler free. Had no idea of the plot or who the main villain was etc. So a lot of the reveals were absolutely great.
Looking forward to watching it again already.

Am I a bad person for enjoying the fact parents had to take kids out of a 12A? Was really refreshing to see a Marvel film that didn't pull it's punches in terms of the threat the villain represented.

Were the kids scared or were the parents shocked or both?

No, you're not. I am always pleased that a 12 is too much for some kids because, you know, it's aimed at teenagers.

First time back in the cinema since Endgame! Can't say DrS-2 was up there with any of my favourites. All a bit too whacky for me.
You will definitely want to have seen WandaVision before going into this.

Yeah, I'm not going to watch WandaVision. If I go to see a film, I don't want to have to do much homework beforehand. If it's really that important, I may look at a summary.

I'd be surprised if you need to know much more than the basic one-line premise of Wandavision, plus the after credits scene for final episode.
I'm just guessing though, as I've avoided any and all information about Strange 2.

I’ve been avoiding articles and spoilers, but no one has mentioned the Loki series, so I guess this multiverse stuff doesn’t rub up against that multiverse stuff.

Strange is multiverse as in, the numbered alternate universes. Whereas Loki is about time travel alterations to the 616 timeline. As I understand the situation. But, yeah. Loki isn't relevant to Strange II.
