Terry Pratchett: Thief of Time 8/10
Working through all of these in order. None have been bad so far, although a few are a bit of a slog to get through.
For some reason I’ve taken to reading about 4 books+ at once. I get through so many more books a year now because of it. When a bit bored of one I switch to another.

I really enjoyed Thief of Time. I think more or less all of the novels from this point on are somewhere on the scale of decent to excellent.

I've been re-reading the TP Volume 1 of the 2016 Flintstones comic (hence why Wilma is my avatar - although the art style is totally different in the book).
I have to give it a ten out of ten. It's a great premise for the kind of satire they went for, and it does something that all good re-imaginings should do - provides a satisfying origin for some of the things you just take for granted about a series. The way they ended up with Dino was quite lovely.
Fully recommend it if you're into comics and haven't read it yet. Unfortunately it was a really short series with only two volumes. They should definitely do some more.

Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy.
Read this many years ago and it's still brilliant to this day.
Adams died far too soon.

A song for the dark times- Ian Rankin I used to love the Rebus books, it seems he’s a bit of a peripheral figure these days but I still enjoyed this one.

Swords Against Death Swords Against Deviltry Not sure on the order, but they are the first two Fahfrd and the Gray Mouser books. Good fun, and a must for anyone who likes DnD. They reminded me of some of the Conan stories, which I would also recommend.

That's quite the mis-read. Specsavers time?
Might pick Let There Be Meat up, to inspire me to clear my "garden" for BBQ space. It might work because I recently read the Ginger Pig Meat Book and started curing my own bacon and eyeing up a sausage maker

Another BBQ book is The Barbecue Bible by Steven Raichlen. It's a cracker. Only downside is that all the quantities are US measurements. Although, a newer reprint may have addressed this.

It might work because I recently read the Ginger Pig Meat Book and started curing my own bacon and eyeing up a sausage maker As much as my review was a bit tongue in cheek it is totally a 10 out of 10 bbq book. I definitely recommend it and it will certainly serve as an inspiration. The sauce section alone is killer and also has a beer recipe and a chocolate, bacon and bourbon drink. Don´t hesitate to pick it up. Also made my own bacon not long back, it´s certainly better than store bought.

SOLD! I only have one BBQ sauce recipe that I use and whilst it's damn good, I would like some variations on it.
The sound of that bourbon/bacon/choc drink has me horny and scared at the same time.

You won´t regret it.
Haha, yeah I have not tried it yet but think I will at some point. Need some bourbon first.

Constance - Matthew Fitzsimmons
Sci-fi thriller. A clone tries to find out what happened to her original incarnation and discover who is chasing her and why. Elements of The 6th day and Johnny Mnemonic, it flirts with some of the ethical questions cloning raises without ever really tackling them head-on but it's an entertaining ride.

The eye of the world. Wheel of time book 1 of 14.
Pretty decent book, but a little derivative in places. Having a character called Thorin really grated even if they were only mentioned in passing. Some of the main characters cake across as a bit too YA and were a bit dickish as a consequence.
Long fantasy book which has an ending that seemed a bit... Lacking in something... Maybe believability, which is something I didn't think I'd say for a fantasy novel. Some characters are a bit one dimensional at the moment but I assume they will flesh out...I mean there's thousands of pages yet to go.
I've heard it's coming to Amazon Prime in November, so thought I'd give it a shot.
7/10 I think.

Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett
Damn I miss the days of having a new Terry book every year, I must have reread them all at least 5 times. This is possibly my favourite, alongside Small Gods.
Solid 10/10

I hope you like braid tugging, you're going to get a whooooole lot of it. That and slightly retrograde gender politics.

I really like fantasy, but I can't see myself ever setting off to read The Wheel of Time series. There's just too much of it, plus the fact that the author never finished it himself. But I'm impressed by anyone doing it.

But I'm impressed by anyone doing it. To be completely honest... it's not worth reading the whole thing. I'd be reading up to maybe book 7 or 8, then just reading summaries and picking it up again once Sanderson takes over. I'm still interested in the TV show, but the book series is significantly flawed imo.

That's good news. Not that I lack other fantasy books to read, but TWoT keep showing up in "Must read fantasy books" lists. One day...

I'll read the lot.I mean I read all the Dune books, so how much worse can they be? That said, I packed in with GOT's as I was sick of the characters I'd invested in dying. I'm expecting these books to get a bit crap in the middle, bit they seem to pick up for the last three or four.
I've just finished reading everything by David Gemmell who I really enjoy. That was a lot more than 14 books. Loved Legend and the audio book is really good as well. His Trojan series was good as was most of the Drenai Saga. I was less taken by the Brigante novels.

Currently 2 books into TWoT and yes book 2 is better. I own book 3.
Also 3 books into Stormlight Archive and own book 4. Think I am up to date with all of the other Cosmere series (and most of Sanderson’s other books. I am however currently reading book 2/3 in his Skyward series).
And I am 7 books into the First Law series and own book 8. (Joe Abercrombie).
I will currently point people to Mistborn and the First Law’s 1st Trilogy ahead of TWoT. (Also stopped reading Dune after book 2).
Also 6 books into the Assassin’s (Fitz & Fool) / Liveship series by Robin Hobb which are also good.

I just started the first trilogy about The Black Company (aptly titled The Black Company). After that I'll read the shadow of what was lost which is the first book in another trilogy.
I don't like it when I put matching sets of books on the shelf though. Looks tacky. So I'll have to waith for some other prints of the sequels to the shadow of...
But by then the third book (out of four) in The Dandelion Dynasty series will be out. Maybe. So I'll read that.

Dune: very good out of ten. I don't read fiction that often but Dune kept me "gripped". Looking forward to the film.
Flake (graphic novel about an ice cream man): yeah, it was ok out of ten.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the IDW collection volume 1.
I don't like to throw around the phrase 'literary masterpiece', but i simply have to here. The way that they paid homage to the turtles all wearing red in the original manga, while using the fact to push the story was simply beautiful.
The way that it opens with Master Splinter commenting on the different attributes his children bring to the table, Donny's calculated nature, Leo's determination and leadership and Mikey's unorthodox-ness, and how it ends with each of them using that ability to save their father is amazing.
The writing is so good. The internal monologuing, the way that Casey and April are brought into the fold, an early cameo from Beebop and Rocksteady.
I hadn't read this since it first came out, but am re-reading them at my new work (often at my desk during lunchtime so my new colleagues can see how cool i am) and it's just as good second time around.
10/10

I read House of Accidents by Chuck Wendig which I found to be a slog, at least until the end where it got a bit better. Guy seriously needs to find a better editor as it was even worse than Wanderers for waffling and as a result there was really little horror at all. Don't think I'll be reading anything else he does.
Read Parable of the Talents too which, while not as good as Sower (hard to follow that up) was a really great apocalypse story. Seriously good writer.
And if we're talking comics, read the first two volumes of Gillen's Wicked & Divine today which I'm definitely enjoying more than I thought I would. Love the mix of mythological gods. It's interrupted my reading of Black Science but I dislike the characters in that so much I'm struggling to return to it.

The Wheel of Time, book 2. The Great Hunt.
It did have bits where I thought "okay, can we get over the wandering around now" and I didn't like jumping from group to group all the time, but it was better than the first i thought. One of the main characters did just vanish though and only reappeared in the last chapter to say they'd been with the others all along but behind the scenes. Almost felt like Robert forgot they existed until the end.
Anyway, I enjoyed it overall and find the ending better than the first. I think knowing it will be on TV soon helps me visualise things better and it helps me get over the dull bits as I mentality do what a series would do and cut them out. I also like trying to picture the scenes on TV and wondering how they'll capture them
7.5/10
I had dust in my eyes at the end.

These Toxic Things by Rachel Howzell Hall. It's OK, I normally polish a book of within two days, but I've been on this best part of the week.
