Can anyone recommend a decent cheap Android tablet?
My youngest spilt water on her Kindle Fire and now it won't turn on (I tried leaving it in rice overnight, still busted). I was going to just wait for Black Friday and pick up another one, but I hate the Amazon UI and ads (I never bothered to root it, not sure I'd know how- I just installed the Play store from a trustworthy APK).
It literally just needs to run Youtube Kids and Netflix, that's all she uses it for.

Amazon can be pretty good about kids' Kindle return's, might be worth a try unless it's ancient. Anyway, Huawei 8inch tablets can be bought secondhand for not much off Marketplace or ebay, I can testify they work absolutely fine for YouTube or Netflix and we still have two Huawei T3 8”'s from 2019 which still work just fine for this and still hold a good charge.

I’m sure it will be fine but there’s some people that won’t sell on eBay as seller protection is basically zero. Buyers can just claim ‘damaged in transit’ and claim a refund You did the right thing with the photos Well it's arrived according to tracking. He's messaged to say it's here safe and sound and thanks for the quick posting .... then he asked something wierd. "When was the last time I changed the thermal paste on the card. It would save him some time if he didn't have to do it." Googled and it appears some crazy bastards do this. My response was long but the TLDR version is ... WTF Mate?!? Anyways, I've advised him against it since it's less than 2 years old but it's all within eBay's messaging so it's on him now

Ugh, we have a Brompton electric bike (which was a mistake) we want to sell but I just can't bring myself to sell it on eBay because of all this agro. Not that I've ever actually sold anything either yet. Guess if we went collection only that will reduce our risk down maybe? No doubt it would probably lower the price possibility too.

Collection only massively reduces the interest you'll get. I've just remembered that I've still got a fridge up on eBay that went within a couple of hours on Facebook marketplace.
I'd just go with marketplace for something like that. Just be prepared for the inevitable scams like the UPS one.

Thanks - it's many years old and it's not a kids' tablet, we just bought a rubber case for it. It's had a fair share of knocks and scrapes and even a visible crack in the back of the case for several months - but I think the water finally did it in. I'll check out Huawei deals - problem is, I can complain about Amazon all I want, but when their cheapest model gets discounted even further on Prime days or Black Fridays, it may be too tempting to my miserly self.

Why do I keep buying cheese from the supermarket when there's a Dutch deli well stocked with European cheeses literally two minutes away?

Probably because it costs twice as much.

Perhaps, but I have to walk twice as far, so when you factor time, wear and tear on my skeleton, shoe leather, calories burned etc is it economical?

And also the cheese from the deli is much nicer. Although you'd probably wait until it was mouldy to eat it.

Overall, what country has the best food?
And before anyone says Italy, the cheap dried stuff is as good as the fresh expensive stuff and technically they only do two flavours of pizza.

Italy, Mexico and China are top three by my estimation. Can't settle on an order though.

None. Deciding between sushi, pho, larb, carbonara, pizza, a good roast and biltong is impossible.
Easier to say the worst. France and Myanmar.
I never understand why France is famous for food. In 7 trips there I have never once not found it overly rich and pretty terrible. (As in food in France, "French" restaurants abroad can be nice.)
