Anyone else playing Vampire Survivors? I picked it up on Steam recently for £2 as my friends list kept saying kalel was playing it, and I saw it heavily promoted on Twitter and thought for £2 I'd give it a shot.
On paper it should be absolutely terrible, yet it's somehow more-ish as fuck and endlessly replayable. Unlocked Giovanni recently and trying to figure out how the cat works, but I think like actual cats, there's no controlling them.
I think it's £4 now but if you like roguelike games then it's basically Gauntlet + Geometry Wars + Hades + Enter the Gungeon.

Waiting for the new engine before I dip back in to check out the full release, as the slideshow it turns into can get a bit too frustrating (seems to turn a 30 minute run into 45+)
Bloody great game, though. Someone else recommended it here when it was a couple of quid and I've more than got my money's worth. I'll definitely buy it again if it ever comes to console (presumably not too far behind the new engine)
Playing a few other similar games at the moment which I've mentioned in another thread. Boneraiser Minions is well worth a look, and 20 mins till dawn is scratching an itch at the moment.

Soulstone Survivors demo on steam seems good, Nov release.
Project Lazarus is good but slow updates compared to VS.

I'll look into these as I'm really enjoying my time with VS, though would much prefer console games that I can play on the sofa.

But as I said in another thread I think 30 minutes per run is too long. If you've got to 20 minutes then you've basically won, and then you have another 10 minutes of grinding the same build. It gets a bit tiresome.

One annoying thing about 20 mins till dawn is that it supports controllers, but has you reaching for the mouse or keyboard at certain times. Can't seem to select the play option from the main menu even though it lets you pick all the stuff before that. You also can't toggle auto aim, which is something you'll want on most of the time if you're looking for a VS experience. Then you reach a boss and auto aim refuses to target them...

I was having fun with it up to the fourth level or so, but as others have said it gets a bit grindy. I ended up downloading Geometry Wars Retro Evolved which is still king for that particular genre, despite its relative simplicity compared to VS.

Keep picking unlocks, the game always has something new and your quickly overpowered with a few of the right upgrades first.

But it still feels grindy by that point regardless.

I haven't played it for a month or so, but yeah that's a fair comment, especially if you're using the doodad that keeps upgrading weapons after they're maxed out. I just set it to pick random upgrades and am usually so powerful that I can just wander off and leave it running.
