I honestly think Boehly is completely fucking Chelsea. It’s the most astonishing gamble that gets less and less likely to pay off the more they spend. It’s not even about FFP. It’s spending devoid of strategy and with no consideration for offloading the inevitable flops. It is literally what a fourteen year old would do if they ran a football club. It's what I'd do if I got bored on FM and wanted to create a galactico team. Happy for it to happen to them though.

Watch City take Pedro and Spurs miss out again for messing about. Though it does feel like Sporting have been doing everything they can to mess things up. Don't think this one was on us by the sounds of it. Watch the "Levy out" brigade though... they'll be frothing at the mouth over this

I mean did this Enzo fella really jump out as a £100m+ player in the WC? He seemed pretty good but nowhere ear that level. Appreciate WC form isn’t particularly meaningful but still. He’s going to end up being the most expensive player ever. It’s nuts.

And all it does is inflate the market for other players.

They do it a lot. They spunked 90m on Havertz a few seasons ago.

Yup. At least he's a world cup winner. I would agree though, surely he's a £50-60m player in the normal run of things and not one of the top 10 (maybe top 5?) most expensive of all time.

At the opposite end of things apparently Everton are being linked with Ryan Fraser is the Scouse press.
Dyche preparing for a swift return from the Championship?

I've always really liked Ryan Fraser. He is quite limited though.

He was pretty bloody good at the world cup, I thought. Definitely one of the stand out midfielders.
Edit: Fernandez, not Fraser or Shaqiri

Jorginho now rumoured. Don't give Chelsea money Arsenal FFS.

There is some sense in it, but it's not as if we've done well out of any of those deals in the past. 18 month contract on not crazy wages and it might work. But no idea what his form is like either. Any fee would be quite low, given he's out of contract in the summer.

At what point does the rug get pulled and Chelsea do a Leeds? Is doing a Leeds even possible anymore? I don’t think to the same extent. The global money from fans in Asia and Africa won’t let them end up with -15 points in League One. The only way I could see it potentially happening is if Abu Dhabi got bored, City don’t seem to have been able to buy global fandom in the way Chelsea have. If by some miraculous collapse one of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea (I genuinely don’t know what the global commercial revenue of Spurs is, so maybe them too) ended up in the Championship it’d end up as another Newcastle, winning the league by 30 points.

It would be funny if everyone got together and decided not to buy any chelsea players.
In reality though there are probably a couple of their outcasts we’d take if the price was right.

Any fee would be quite low, given he's out of contract in the summer. If he'd actually sign for 0.5+1 maybe, but surely he'll want 2.5 years guaranteed on a big wage. That would be stupid in my view. We shouldn't mortgage the future just for the next 6 months.

It would absolutely be the way to cripple them. Very few clubs in Europe can afford PL players and it would make some of those long long contracts they've handed out killer.

It's the squad players that I don't know how they (and Liverpool) generate so much income from. Some of the sales are baffling.

The logic is that they must be pretty good to get to play for United, Chelsea, City, Madrid, Barca etc in the first place. It’s one of the more subtle ways by which they maintain their status.

I wish we could sell our deadwood like Chelsea.
High wages they're on don't help.

I agree Kal but I don't know if I'd include Utd in that group these days. Like us the market for our reserves has vanished since dropping out of contention for titles.

Oh, I agree there's a halo effect, but clubs really need to do a bit more due diligence. Some of them had barely played for the first teams.

Arsenal Twitter is predictably in meltdown about signing more CFC rejects. And speaking of which, PSG are apparently buying Ziyech.

I’d rather have Jorginho as cover than Lokonga so I’m fine with it.

Porro is (again) apparently now done. Giving up 15% of our sell on clause on Edwards as well. I wonder if that has a summer transfer in mind.
