Spurs looked like us at the start of the season, with even less drive. Clueless so just fucking gave up and even when they scored they barely pushed the issue. Other than the assist for Saka, Kane looked like he couldn't give less of a fuck. Lovely.

We seem to switch between stop playing too early and start playing too late. On and not playing at all (palace).

The consolation goal took the shine off a little but 3-1 is fine with me.

Look like I picked a good game to watch Arsenal for the first time this season! We were quite poor and sloppy in the second half, but pleased with that overall. Outstanding save from Ramsdale too at the end, definitely liking the look of him.

Honestly I’m just happy it hasn’t ended up a cricket score. England's current openers beg to differ.

Main thing for me is we actually looks like a balanced team again. Finally. The new signings make a big difference.
Pretty confident about reclaiming our place in the 'big 8' now.
Tomiyasu is my new favourite player. What a man.

Tomiyasu for 17 million was a bargain.

Partey staying fit would be huge for our season. Still needs some match fitness though, looked tired at the end and didn’t track Son’s run for the goal.
Also nice to have at least 2 players in the back line who can consistently win a header. Very impressed with Tomiyasu and Gabriel. Still slightly unsure on White though if I’m honest.

Largely kept them at arms length 2nd half and contained them. Didn't need to over-commit. Cracking save by Ramsdale, Tomi was magnificent and Partey is so important to us. Xhaka def looked like a ligament strain, which will be annoying just in terms of numbers so nothing else.

Someone said it earlier I think but Nuno looks a bit out of his depth. Really worried this season could be a bit of a disaster. Obviously early days, but worrying signs so far.

Horrible situation to be in and he seems like a really nice guy.

I do want him to do well as seems like a decent enough guy, but I’m not sure he knows how to play on the front foot, and we are shit at sitting back and countering as shown last season.
It’s all just a bit shit really.

It feels a bit Moyes to United. Felt quite sorry for him on the touchline, he's looking really nervous to me.

Nuno wasn’t exactly high on anyone’s list to get in but I’ve been willing to give home the benefit of doubt to now. Not many were particularly excited about appointing Poch either and after a difficult start he turned it around. By all accounts, even in his own words in his book, Poch was one loss away from being sacked early on.
Biggest concern is the huge lack of any kind of playmaker in the team. Kane covered the issue last year to an extent but it’s a glaring failure in recruitment to not address the problem.

Turned the Palace v Brighton game on to see how Eddy is getting on. Surprised that some of the commentary seems to think the Palace penalty was soft? Looked like a classic clumsy forward barging into his own penalty area to me, naive in the extreme.

It was an old fashioned shoulder barge, which isn't supposed to be a foul. Although Gallagher threw himself to the floor, most refs would give it as a pen I think.
Brighton have messed up two FPL weeks for me now with late goals, it's getting annoying.

It was an old fashioned shoulder barge, which isn't supposed to be a foul. But surely what you mean here is 'didn't use' to be a foul. Whether you or I like it or not, we all know the rules and general attitudes towards those sorts of challenges have changed. To my mind, by today's standards, it was a clear penalty. I'd be raging with my attacker if after 45ish mins of solid defending we were undone by a stupid moment like that.

what's the offence if it's shoulder to shoulder? It's not like a push or a grab, or a tackle with the feet.

I believe the terminology used in the current rule set is ‘undue force’, but perhaps someone with more insight/knowledge could confirm?
Of course, I’m assuming you’re generally interested in what the current state of play is in regard to these sorts of fouls, and that we’re not just having an ‘when I were a lad’ chat here.

I thought it was soft, but then I am very biased.
I couldn't stop laughing when Maupay scored, he's such a shithouse.

Perhaps a bit of recency bias, sure! But he does it against everyone. What's the general feeling about White's return?

Perhaps a bit of recency bias, sure! But he does it against everyone. What's the general feeling about White's return? The thing is, he was a fringe player for ages and was only a regular last season.
He never had a match where you felt he was critical to the team. One of those players who was always present but it wasn't clear what they added beyond the basics.
This isn't to say he's average, he just never really excelled in my opinion. £50m is an fantastic deal for Albion, I don't think he's worth it but I may eat my words in the years to come.
Our season so far shows that we didn't need him anyway. I think he'll get a warm enough reception. If it wasn't for Southgate calling him up in a pinch (and never playing him) I don't think he would have gone for even close to £50m.
