Is that talking it up as the first sentence is "I can't believe I'm writing this"...
First full outer London region is in and Khan won it for the first time. Ha!

I've seen two regions that Khan has won being reported. And by a far margin. Where is this "it's really close" angle coming from?

Well people were saying "closer than expected" and the polls were a 20% win at one point.
I think it's mostly an artefact of the counting happening on Saturday and British politics not being good at waiting a few days. I was in the local on Thursday night and ran into every local member of the Labour party. I'm pretty sure most people in the various camps hit the pubs Thursday, spent yesterday twiddling their thumbs, journalists all got a bit bored as well and random rumours and nonsense follows.
Where as General Elections and most local elections everyone expects a result in hours, there's no time for people to get bored and start reporting on rumours.

Media always has to have a narrative. Unfortunately they don’t care what damage it can be do. Like still having climate change deniers on debate programs. Or giving Farage/Ukip/Brexit Party/Reform millions of hours of air time despite having a smaller vote share than Lib Dem’s or the Greens. Thankfully over the last 12 months it feels like people can finally see through it.

Yeah it is strange you don't get a lot more greens on TV! Although they are a bit nuts sometimes. Their London mayoral manifesto promised to end murder in the capital, like not reduce, end it.

We had a lone council by-election for 1 councillor in my ward and the green councillor was very much "End the War in Gaza"... Not even the London Assembly, a fucking councillor.

Doomsayers for London seem to be being silenced by the actual results. Everything going to Khan so far, some even with an increased share. Not as big as the 20-point lead in the YouGov poll (seeing that was a bit of an outlier and something odd about the survey sample used), but still comfortable.
Only place of the seven or so that have been declared that has gone to Hill so far is Bexley and Bromley. The vote split is supposedly basically identical to the previous mayoral elections.

Brent and Harrow also did. With an actual small swing towards Hall.

I know it's not technically a city but Jess Phillips quite pointedly referring to Birmingham as a Labour City and Solihull as a Tory... uh borough? was quite funny.

I've always just considered Solihull as Birmingham tbh. I went to secondary in Solihull but lived just by the border, I guess it felt a bit Tory in some parts but then there's Shirley and Chelmsley Wood and they don't feel particularly Tory.

Full recount of Coventry has been requested looks like Andy Street has lost his job.

I always liked Jasper Carrott’s comment: There’s a lot of surface wealth in Solihull, two cars in the drive, sod all in the fridge.

I've always just considered Solihull as Birmingham tbh. The sillhillians I’ve met have been quite precious about that not being the case. I’ve told this story before but my mates wife is from there and we were out once when she spilled a drink on some dude who called her a ‘divvy brummie whore’. She screamed ‘I am NOT a fucking brummie!’ back at him.

Final results not in, but if it's close and Street wins, then I reckon it would have actually been Labour if not for Gaza.

Tories asked for recount in Brum, which points to a Labour win.
Tories trying to spin it as “Andy Street has won or nearly won”

Well this is a nailbiter. They have to win Sandwell by 11k they won by 5 or 6 last time... 3 thousand swing voters would do it.
I'll take back any rude thing I've said about Sandwell. Also Coventry.

Sky News have announced Labour are saying they have won it. Labour campaigners are out in the hall waiting for the announcement, but Tories still a no show.
Edit - and now they have said Tory sources have also told them that Street has lost.

We are looking at a wipeout at the GE. I now don't expect it to take place until the last day in January that it must take place by...

Yeah this could be such a wipeout that Starmer could have the biggest majority a PM has ever had. It's a big if as there's obviously a lot of Tory cunts but this is going to be interesting, hopefully the voting public aren't too apathetic.

Great news for Labour, and awful news for the Tories - needless to say, I'm chuffed. Looks like the BBC needs a new proofreader, though:
How did that missing 'n' slip through?

The Tories have cut its funding in half.
Try living today on half of what your income was 10 years ago.
