30 years since Senna died. Crazy. I can still picture watching it in our living room. My first F1 race. As a spectator, obviously. In front of the telly.

Can clearly remember it happening. Was watching with my parents, I was 9, and after the race I stated I was going to play the dead man’s racing game. Being Ayrton Senna Monaco GP on Game Gear. Was quickly told that it wasn’t an appropriate thing to say.

I get the feeling I’m one of the younger folk on these FontGeek forums, at a youthful 37 years of age.

I was a fair bit older, but no less gutted. Affected me for weeks, which is crazy considering I only ever "knew" him through a TV screen. Stupid to say, but never considered he would die in F1 race such was his mastery of the car. Totally agree and not just because it was Senna who never seemed to have big crashes but also because we were the first generation of F1 fans who hadn't really experienced any F1 deaths before. I was too young for De Angelis in 86 and that was testing rather than a broadcast session anyway. 1982 was the last televised tragedy. Prior to that weekend, I'd got the totally false idea that F1 was now perfectly safe. Murray used to harp on about Professor Sid Watkins, how strong the cars were thanks to the crash testing and how brilliant all the provisions like the helicopter and medical car were. Plus we'd seen obscenely kinematic crashes before like Martin Donally's, Alex Caffi's and Patrese's and they were 'fine' so obviously Senna would be. His car didn't even break in half.

Are we all the same age or something haha. Haha also 39. F1 was the first sport I liked and I remember the 3 or 4 seasons prior. Senna was my absolute hero at the time and yeah F1 drivers being killed wasn't really a thing to then 9 year olds. Despite me already being an F1 fan Senna had completely transcended the Sport by that point. I actually missed the incident but I have a vivid memory of seeing the news on Teletext. And then the same eating tea in stunned silence.

Charles Leclerc doing God's work and parking his Ferrari in the middle of the road to ensure as little practice as possible and a total clusterfuck of a sprint weekend.

These tracks and the stewarding are just ruining F1.
Ham should have had a +5 for the first corner. Absolutely fine to go for that gap given how it developed but if you do, you need to hug the inside as you're making it 3 or 4 wide. He took the risk and didn't quite get it stopped, thems the breaks. Ruined three innocent drivers races so baffling decision.
Then Magnusson, wtf was that? Skipping the chicane, fine, can accept he was catching oversteer though he clearly did ensure he got an advantage just big enough to make him safe in the next DRS zone. I actually thought 10s was harsh but if the stewards honestly felt he maintained position due to it, why did it take them 3 or more laps to penalise?
The second one where he hit Hamilton was ridiculous. The stewards said it was leaving the track and gaining an advantage. NO, it was obviously an unsafe rejoin. You can't go all four wheels off the track then rejoin into the side of a car ahead of you. Use your brake pedal if there's a car in the way. It's basics, and he knew full well what he was doing. He initiated contact, because worst case they'd both be out and Hulk would be safe up ahead.
The third one was online lobby stuff. Piss poor driving standards again and exactly the sort of thing that didn't use to happen because gravel was there or going back further lamp posts, never mind the terrible etiquette. Just made no attempt to stay on the track. Again looked completely intentional, like a 13 year old on Gran Turismo.
I'd been giving him a 10 place grid drop tomorrow and 6 penalty points for that. In these cases where someone is defending illegally to protect a team mate up the road, the stewards should have dispensation to enforce a drive through next lap instead of a time penalty to get them out the way.

Danny Ricc was good though. Might have saved his F1 career for the time being.

They need to bring back drive through penalties for these incidents, immediately. You shouldn't be able to tactically over defend under an existing penalty to blatantly benefit your teammate ahead. It's cheating, plain and simple.

Fair play to KMag for his honesty, this is a bit of a case of hate the game not the player.
These cars on these tracks with these rules (or at least interpretation of the rules) do not work.
Drivers will always exploit loop holes. The fake concept of hard racing is what has got us here. It does not work. Racing etiquette is the thing that enables racing to happen.

Alonso is essentially accusing the stewards of racism.
Alonso clipped the back of Hamilton at the start here two years ago, got by him in the process and escaped a penalty. So is his theory they forgot he was Spanish that day?

They are now paying the penalty for normalising the Verstappen just run people off overtake/defend. That Magnussen stuff was an absolute joke, but hey if its entertaining the masses anything goes right?

Yup. That ridiculous off the track to defend move was same as what Max did to Lewis in Brazil T4.

Was that an unsafe rejoin from Sergio? Looked like cars had to take avoiding action.

McLaren with DRS and better tyre condition dropping back from a Red Bull without DRS on the back straight. Don't think McLaren can overtake even if faster over the lap.

Lando's pace is awesome. Such a shame he got done by Perez at T1.
Faster than the Red Bulls.

The FIA have screwed this up totally.
Max will have warm tyres from passing the SC and Lando's will be cold.

If Lando can get out of DRS then he has a real chance to stay clear based on first stint pace but if Max gets DRS it's over. McLaren have nothing to fight with on that straight.
I hate modern F1.

Plus probably be another safety car.
Logan was always going to cause one, but Stroll's still running.

Normally I would agree but I don't think he will sail past as quick as previous races. ......going to be proven wrong in 3 2 1
